January 31Jan 31 Either S&W Mod. 19 or a "slightly worked" Gov't. Mod. 1911A1. As my instructor and later friend former Navy SEAL instructor said after asking the class in Officer Survival what weapon we carried, unholstering his and holding it up, "Gov't. Mod. 1911 A1, God's gun." Off hunting season I carried S&W Mod. 19 and later Mod. 586 on belt and SKS brought back from VN in saddle scabbard on horseback. Good coyote medicine. Hunting season, modified Rem. Mod. 700 .300 Win. Mag. Duty, S&W Mod. 19, later 586. Off duty everywhere my concealed and in truck at least Polytech AK-47. Mountains of Northern New Mexico everybody went armed, concealed or not. My ex#2 went armed.
January 31Jan 31 I currently do not own any firearms since 1992. However, but back in the states I owned a Smith & Wesson Model 60…a Ruger Blackhawk…and. Colt Python 6”, purchased from my father who bought it new in 1964 (smooth as silk action, a very sophisticated lady, that is not afraid to step up). And a Winchester 30/30.Note: Since that time I have lived and traveled to at least 39+ foreign countries. And there is only one where I have ever felt the need to own a firearm…!
January 31Jan 31 This former Sigarms employee prefers the 228. p.s. I would think twice about changing your location.
January 31Jan 31 Used to carry these 220gr hardcast in the g29 while venturing in grizzly country, heavy accurate loads and filthy as all hell having the need to clean the barrel after eight or ten rounds…Came across these a few years back made by G9 Defense, amazing penetration for a light load and don’t carry anything else in the g29 unless target practice. The woodsman are effective bangers for the 9mm as well…
January 31Jan 31 I try to not put myself in situations where I need to carrry, but occasionally need to do so in certain circumstances. When I do, Glock 19. We can open carry where I live, but very few people do so. Seems like mostly PIs amateurs who think they need to show force...same guy probably wearing fake Rolex. Every now and then I will see open carry, and I think people just forgot they have it on the hip or forgot a jacket. If I was going to open carry, I'd just get the Dirty Harry Chrome Plated 44. Maybe one for each hip. I know a fair amount of women carry in purse S&W type bodyguards...I think those are .45or 380. Never fired one or seen one fired, so not sure how they handle.

The one I carried for backpacking in the hills was chambered for .22 Magnum and had a nice folding grip for compactness. The smaller one was chambered for .22 LR, and I loaded it with .22 Birdshot when rock-climbing, especially when exploring new crags in untouched wilderness areas where I worried about coming up over a ledge face-to-face with a rattler. Those were North American Arms Mini revolvers, I used to pocket carry one in the field when I carried my .44 Mag.

James Bond type stuff. Nice.
February 18Feb 18 I once, long ago, when I was about 22 or 23, carried a Colt .45 (nickel plated) Model 1911, like identical one imaged here:The only problem was that this gun is so heavy, especially with a full clip that...My pants would keep falling down.If you want to carry this gun fully loaded, then I suggest some sort of Sam Brown belt, or a harness...or...Even a truss. The gun is much lighter weight if you just carry it around unloaded.Carrying around a gun like this is only something young stupid people do.When my pants fell down the third time, I sold this gun and moved to Taiwan.Best decision of my young life.

Tuesday at 04:12 AM2 days P365 with a 12 round magazine and a 17 round magazine backup. Daily. Even in the house. This because I experienced a guy breaking into my house out in California who wanted to kill me back in 1989. I didn't know that at the time. He was a drug addict that I knew casually. I still don't know what his beef was!I was getting ready to go to a shooting range and put my holstered .45 1911 on my belt just before the break in. He was able to break into the house in 4 seconds!!! He stopped when he saw me, I pulled the pistol and pointed it at him and he left. Also in the bedroom I keep an "AR pistol" (that's what it was called when I bought it), that has a 7.5 inch barrel, a loaded 30 round magazine, and a suppressor on the end of the barrel (still pretty loud). After buying it and shooting at the range, I found out that when 69 gr .225/5.56mm rounds are shot out of it, they start keyholing at about 15 - 20 feet (the distance to the bottom of my stairs). But they are accurate enough, even if they rounds are yawing, tumbling, keyholing, however you want to describe it, to hit a dinner plate out to 25 yards at about 2000 fps muzzle velocity. Also, on occasion, I carry a Browning BDA .380 with a 13 round magazine.
