One-tonne road sign collapses in Saraburi, leaving three seriously hurt

A large roadside sign reportedly toppled onto a motorcycle on the Friendship Highway in Saraburi, seriously injuring three people. The crash happened on February 1 in the Pak Phiao area, prompting police and rescue workers to rush to the scene. Those hurt were reported as a 17-year-old rider, a 13-year-old passenger, and an older woman estimated to be in her 50s or 60s. Officials said the sign weighed about one tonne, with a support pole roughly nine metres high and a sign span around eight metres wide. Investigators suspected missing or stolen bolts may have weakened the structure and contributed to the collapse.
