Crown Princess's Son - Rape trial starts in Norway

Royal Scandal: Crown Princess's Son on Trial for Rape

Tense times as Marius Borg Høiby faces serious charges In a dramatic courtroom scene, Marius Borg Høiby, son of Norway's Crown Princess Mette-Marit, stands trial in Oslo for a series of grave charges, including four counts of rape. The case has captured national attention, marking it as one of Norway's most significant trials in years. Høiby, initially arrested in a woman's flat in Oslo, pleads not guilty to the rape charges amid an extensive 38-count indictment.

The trial commenced against a backdrop of daily revelations about Høiby and his mother, further thickening the plot surrounding Norway's royal family. Crown Princess Mette-Marit is herself embroiled in controversy due to her connections with the late Jeffrey Epstein, as reported in hundreds of newly revealed emails. These revelations have led to her being stripped of her patron role from the Sex and Society foundation, casting a shadow over her reputation.

The eve of the trial brought further drama as Høiby was detained yet again on suspicion of assault, knife threats, and restraining order violations, echoing his initial arrest circumstances. Held in custody for four weeks, his legal team plans to challenge the detention as they navigate the trial's complexities.

Taking the stand in a brown sweater and beige trousers, Høiby denied four rape allegations while conceding to some lesser charges. Courtroom restrictions are tight, forbidding any images or identification of the victims involved. Despite his denial of serious offences, he admits to physical abuse and property destruction.

Absent from the courtroom are the Norwegian royals, with King Harald V and Queen Sonja attending the Winter Olympics. Their absence intensifies the isolation Høiby faces as he endures trial proceedings.

Beyond the personal scandal, Mette-Marit's links to Epstein and her subsequent fallout have sparked public debate. Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre has called on the Crown Princess to explain these dubious ties. The situation is seen as a blow to her standing, with royal experts and political figures urging transparency.

Despite these unsettling developments, Norway's royal family remains relatively popular. A Norstat opinion poll still shows strong public support; however, Crown Princess Mette-Marit's involvement with Epstein has affected her image. Political discussions continue, with the Norwegian Green Party's leader, Arild Hermstad, critiquing the monarchy as ineffective.

Tuesday brings another layer of intrigue as Norwegian MPs prepare to vote on a routine republican motion. Although expected to fail, it reflects the delicate balancing act faced by the monarchy amid growing calls for clarity.

The trial of Marius Borg Høiby unfolds amidst mounting pressure on the Norwegian royal family. As the proceedings continue, the nation watches closely, pondering the broader implications for the monarchy and its future.

Key Takeaways

  • Marius Borg Høiby faces serious charges, creating royal tension.

  • Crown Princess Mette-Marit's Epstein ties damage her image.

  • Norwegian monarchy maintains popularity despite scandals.

Predictable silence on this. 😄

I guess it's no fun to bash Royals when they're not British.

No Norway haters on the forum?

Only you could turn a report about a rape trial into a platform for your misplaced sense of grievance.

Interesting that you found my post more worthy of a response than the OP.

Rent free Raymond. Rent free. 😄

I'm just stating what the overwhelming majority of posters on this board are thinking.

If this fellow is guilty of rape then he deserves everything that he gets. That applies irrespective of whether he is Prince or pauper.

However, you are right. Your original post was not worthy of a response. My bad.

Wow, you can read the minds of all the posters on this board? Any other special talents you are hiding from us? What number am I thinking of now?

About time. Bet you wish he was British though. You could have posted before I did.

Indeed. Obsession is a terrible thing Raymond, you might want to get that looked at. I don't need another stalker.

I don't need to read the minds of others. Most people possess an attitribte called (good) morals. Sadly you are one of the exceptions.

Don't try that. You are the one trying to make mileage of a rape case for your own misplaced sense of victimhood.

Et viola. I rest my case.

I could have but given that I know nothing about this case or the Norwegian royal family, why would I?

To state that rape is a terrible crime goes without saying. (Almost) everyone realises that without me reminding them.

It's not obsession, John. It's simply that I don't think that your odious bile should be allowed to go unchallenged.

It's quite sad that you would focus on personal attacks on me rather than the alleged crimes of the Prince.

I guess your obsession with me is stronger than your concern for the victims.

More than a bit weird, but we all have our cross to bear. 😄

See you in the next "I can't get over Brexit" thread. 😁

It's taken you three posts to even mention the alleged crimes so spare me the faux outrage about your concern for the victims.

You clearly have no shame.

Calm down Raymond, your pacemaker will explode. 😄

Your support for the cover up of the grooming gangs by Labour tells me everything I need to know about your (lack of) concern for the victims of sexual crimes. None whatsoever. You only participated in this thread to make ad hominem attacks on me.

Perhaps you would be better off doing that on a Brexit thread? More opportunity for the usual lazy connotations there.

Back on topic, this guy seems like a real wrong un. Let's hope Norway doesn't have a 2 tier justice system like Britain does and he faces a real punishment.

So criticizing Royals means you hate their country?

Strawman.

Start a thread about a British royal having sex with a prostitute of legal age and there are pages of people asking for abolition of the British monarchy.

This thread about a Norwegian Royal doing far worse and nothing but tumbleweed.

I was simply pointing that out. Don't shoot the messenger.

yagoda !

We got the same <deleted>ty humans as everywhere else!

The crown princess have been in closer contact with Epstein as well, so I feel truly sorry for Håkon, who is a decent guy, who choosed the wrong woman who had the wrong family ties and also constantly doing and making wrong decisions.

And his sister married a reptile king, Durek from California I believe. A gay man she married. If you Google, it is a story out of the more exentric world we didn't even know existed.

There is absolutely no truth that I supported the cover up of the appalling grooming gangs.

You are now reduced to lying. As if further proof was needed that you have no shame .

Playing the victim again.

I participated in this thread to highlight your distasteful use of a report about rape in order to promote your misplaced sense of grievance.

Lazy connotations? That's rich coming from the bloke who's every post usually contains a lament or two about 'Two Tier Kier', 'Diversity is our friend' or similar slogans.

You just can't help yourself, can you?

(Yes, this fellow does seem like a nasty piece of work).

No, you were making a reference to criticizing Royals and hating your country. I understand your backtracking though, considering your frequent criticism of the British Royals.

No, I said British royal bashing is far more popular than bashing Royals from other countries.

It was a simple point, so please stop pretending you misunderstood it. That's Higgot's MO, not yours.

Time to re-evaluate our monarchy. The scandals just keep coming. In addition to these cases with Marius and Mette-Marit, you have the American shaman marrying into one of our royalties as well.

The only reason I still might support our monarchy, is that I'm sure Crown Prince Haakon will be an excellent king.

My wild guess is that he will most probably get away with a quite light sentence, if any sentence at all. As I said, just a wild guess.
