A Filipina woman was arrested at the Phuket Immigration Office after authorities discovered an active warrant for her arrest related to theft and forgery. This incident took place on February 3 when she attempted to renew her visa. Immigration officers identified her through routine checks and immediately halted her visa process.

The woman was wanted for allegedly stealing from her employer and using forged documents. After being questioned, she admitted to being the person named in the warrant. Police at Chalong Station have now taken over the case, though specifics about the theft or the victim have not been disclosed.

Khemmachart Wattanaphakasem, Superintendent of the Phuket Provincial Police Office, noted that the arrest aligns with efforts to curb illegal activities by foreigners in Thailand. The police are implementing enhanced screening at immigration checkpoints to prevent potential threats to public safety.

Recently, Thai authorities have handled similar incidents involving foreigners. On January 29, a Dutch man was arrested at Phuket International Airport following an assault related to a parking dispute. Similarly, on February 2, a French couple faced consequences after being caught in a compromising situation, leading to fines and deportation.

Authorities continue to emphasize that immigration and criminal laws apply to all, warning that visa applications may reveal pending legal issues. The focus remains on maintaining safety and lawfulness among visitors and residents in Thailand, reported The Thaiger.
