What Makes a Troll?

Featured Replies

I have seen many posts on here where people call each other troll, site-pest, stalker, flamer, baiter, etc. So what exactly is the definition of someone who fits this description?

A troll is someone who posts content to provoke others. This term has evolved to also mean I disagree with you.

Seems the “Thumbs Down” has replaced the emoji ‘Don’t feed the Trolls'

Can we just name one poster who epitomises the exact definition and kill this thread in it's tracks?

The "Thumbs Down" is the weapon of the lazy, dumb, troll.

So anyone who disagrees with somebody else on a forum is a troll?

What?

Hate to be that guy but you got a link for that bs claim. Your comment is what would be called coy trolling.

80 percent. Good grief.

You are the biggest troll on here.

A troll avoids the topic and stalks people. You see it on any forum. Always lefties. The guy above made 15 posts in a row about me. World champion troll in 2026.

Where does 80% come from?

Nothing to do with it. If people disagree but discuss the subject thats normal conversation. If someone just stalks another poster and says silly things to them that's trolling.

A troll is someone who posts solely for the purpose of eliciting an emotional response from unsophisticated forum members, who rise to the bait every time. A few of the basement dwelling, pearl clutching geezers spend their days feeding the trolls. I've read about and heard tell of paid trolls but never found a job posting for the position.

When replying ...

If not address the topic you're a troll.

If criticizing the messenger instead of the message, you're a troll.

If replying to trolls in kind, well ... nuff said

Use a little will power, or the ignore function.

Short membership, high post count.

A bit like you and flaming dragon!

Yes, although my post count is low there is a trollish air about many of them. I despise virtue signaling and 'RIP' posts. Add the 'deport' everyone (except those who think like me) posts and that rounds out the list.

Trolls were funny 20 years ago. These days just yawn. Bob Smith the last of a bygone era.

It's usually the accuser who is used to winning arguments with themselves, all of a sudden being faced with a different perspective.

IMO, you are a Troll. You write specifically to elicit an extreme response. Rarely have I seen you in normal conversation. You are usually throwing things at someone, figuratively.
