Scientists warn earth near irreversible “hothouse” state

  • Many rich leftists fly frequently, own multiple homes, and use private jets or large vehicles, contributing disproportionately to emissions. For example, the top 1% of global emitters are responsible for 76 times more emissions than the average person, according to a 2025 study.

  • Investment choices: Even those who advocate for climate justice often hold significant assets in fossil fuel companies or extractive industries. A 2023 Oxfam report found that 125 of the world’s richest billionaires invest heavily in polluting industries, emitting an average of 3 million tons of carbon annually each.

I do feel so sorry for these people. If you're a multi-millionaire climate alarmist, how else are you going to enjoy your money that doesn't involve emission of large quantities of carbon dioxide? Maybe just spend it all on rare stamps, and eke out your days living in a one bedroom apartment looking at your stamp collection?

They should name each scientist involved, make them give an end date. Then when that end date arrives, and nothing has happened, shoot them in the head. End date for running out of food and the world

I assume ( again opinion) that your definition of a "lefty" is anyone who does not subscribe to your own, somewhat particular and individual views?

Confusing, were I a bear of very little brain, in that you and other enthusiasts condemn me as a "lefty" whereas others here, of recorded and accepted "left wing views" have on occasions dismissed me as irredeemable right wing!

Still, in my confusion I will continue to recycle plastic bags, if only because you seem to find it noteworthy!15-03-16-155.jpg,

He walked to Thailand. Just one commercial flight cancels any of that off grid bs. Dont get me wrong solar is great and a good way to avoid paying bills etc. I dont use gas. Maybe not directly but let's be real now.

Or use the internet or any other man made product. Everything contains oil in one way or another. That off grid set up used loads of dirty carbon producing products all along the way.

The phone they use. Food. Medicine. Im sure they walk everywhere. The list goes on and on. Clothing is one of the worst. They walk around naked though for sure.

Fun fact....Obama cares so much about it he bought a water front property in 2019.

Smh.

They are not failed. Unfortunately, we are seeing the impact now with the weather extremes. Eastern North America went through a polar vortex. The west coast of the USA has suffered drought. Europe is experience winter storm variations not seen before that has left a trail of destruction. Australian cities are baking while droughts and wildfire devastate some regions. Africa is in the throes of catastrophic fertile land erosion and drought etc.

Wasn't most of the world supposed to be underwater some time ago? and aren't we all supposed to be boiling in our own sweat by now ,?

Ask the people on the River Thames how they feel about the current flooding. Australia’s is experiencing its worst heatwave since the black summer of 2019 and parts of the country can no longer adapt or cope with it. They are becoming deadzones. Temperatures are surpassing 40C in Melbourne and Sydney. It is expected that the horror fires that devastated Victoria consuming 400,000 hectares and incinerating 900+ structures will be repeated. Parts of Chile are suffocating. And yet, here you are to proclaim that all is well.

  • Onslow, Western Australia on 13 January 2022

But a lot of them have failed though. 50 years ago the tech to monitor weather wasnt as good as now. Population was lower so less were effected as well.

In the 70s it was the coming ice age. Is that not a failed prediction ? NyC was supposed to be under water by now.

Former President Obama sold the home in martha's vineyard. It was above the high watermark and was not in a high risk flood zone. His home in Hawaii is a good 10 meters above the high water mark and is set back from the ocean.

Why are you making reference to him? It has no relevance.

Yes, the Ozone layer has started to repair itself. It is because of the worldwide ban on CFC and other ozone destroying chemicals. This proves that there ar positive outcomes when people behave responsibly. There was a time when lead was added to gasoline. Now that it has been removed, the recovery in the environment has been fantastic, and human phyysical health has improved remarkably. I suppose you are against the removal of lead from petrol too?

So, you are denying the increasing number of floods in NYC?

The Zanclean megaflood, which occurred approximately 5.3 million years ago, is considered the biggest flood in Earth's history. It refilled the Mediterranean Sea after it had largely dried up during the Messinian Salinity Crisis. Water from the Atlantic Ocean surged through the Strait of Gibraltar at an estimated rate of 68 to 100 million cubic meters per second, creating a waterfall 30 times taller than Niagara Falls. This cataclysmic event reshaped the landscape, triggered earthquakes, and transformed the region geologically.

Among the deadliest floods in recorded history, the 1931 China floods stand out, with death tolls estimated between 1 million and 4 million people due to flooding of the Yangtze, Yellow, and Huai Rivers. The 1887 Yellow River flood killed between 900,000 and 2 million people, while the 1938 Yellow River flood, deliberately caused by Chinese forces to halt Japanese troops, resulted in 500,000 to 800,000 deaths.

In the United States, the 1927 Mississippi River flood remains the most devastating river flood in U.S. history, inundating 16 million acres across seven states and killing over 250 people. The 1937 Ohio River flood left nearly 1 million homeless and caused 385 deaths. The 1970 Bhola cyclone in East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) killed 300,000 to 500,000 people, making it one of the deadliest tropical cyclones ever recorded.

What's your point? One off temperature events are manageable

Temperature that remains at 40C+ over a period of time is destructive.

Come back and tell me how many long term heat waves there were in 1920 and compare that to 2020.

Earth was warmer around 4,300 years ago, during the Holocene Climatic Optimum, a period of elevated global temperatures that peaked approximately 6,000 to 8,000 years ago.

  • Temperatures in the Northern Hemisphere were likely 2–3°C warmer than today during this time, particularly in summer months.

  • This warmth contributed to the development of early agricultural societies and human civilizations.

  • However, global average temperatures during the Holocene Optimum did not exceed those of recent decades by much, if at all.

  • The warming was primarily driven by changes in Earth's orbit (Milankovitch cycles), which altered the distribution of solar energy across the planet

Sinking is the key word right in the thumbnail. Something sinks expect

more water. We have been coming out of an ice age for a long time. C02 levels in the past have been hundreds and even thousands of times higher than they are now.

Without the benefit of peer reviewed studies i am going to assert that 30 years is the equivalent of a fraction of a millisecond when discussing "climate change" or "global warming" or whatever its called these days. in fact 1000 years is again to short a time span to be meaningful.

Don't have a panic attack but I noticed my thermometer has risen a few degrees since last night,

Here is the actual reality:

INFERENTIAL-STATISTICS2-1891246839.png

Glaciers in the Alps and around the world are retreating faster and faster. The consequences of melting glaciers are being felt not only in Switzerland, but all over the planet.

Since 1850, the volume of Alpine glaciers has decreased by about 60%. What is surprising, however, is the rate at which the Alpine “giants” and glaciers in all regions of the planet are shrinking.

grafik.png

grafik.png

Since the pre-industrial era, the temperature in Switzerland has risen by more than 2°C, twice the world average. At this rate, half of the approximately 1,500 Alpine glaciers – including the majestic Aletsch Glacier, a UNESCO World Heritage Site – will disappear by 2050. And if nothing is done to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, all glaciers in Switzerland and Europe could melt almost completely by the end of the century.

What are the consequences of melting glaciers?

Glaciers provide fresh water to more than two billion people.

Their retreat caused by global warming threatens the water supply of downstream communities, particularly in Asia and Latin America, and has negative repercussions for agriculture and hydropower production. Melting glaciers increase the risk of landslides and floods and contribute to sea level rise.
