Regarding transgenders being "mentally ill", it might be better to soften it and say there may be some psychological issues that causes people to change their gender and maybe there should be some counseling before people make hasty decisions about altering their gender. But it has nothing to do with gun violence. It's 2 separate issues.

Transgenders do not live in reality. Thats is by definition a mental illness.
