The Ultimate Dinner Party

More veggies dammit! :D :D

I suggest some really nice fruit juices. Passion fruit etc. An soda water and lime. Some really amazing non-alcoholic cocktails would rock. And some really induldent proper fruit or choc milkshakes.

Yummmmmmmmmm......! :o

Non-alcoholic cocktails??? That's just some fruit juices mixed up together. Get a life! Tell ya what, I'm sure CB will organise a few fruit juices for ya and if yer really good, a bottle of 'Irn-Bru'!

Do you remember the ads; "Got a funny feeling, she's been drinking Irn-Bru!" :D

Oh forgot the "Made in Scotland from Girders" juice... Great mixed wi voddie...

I like the buffet idea. Disabled folks can sit and be served and the walkers can amble and then sit wherever to talk to someone new. My guest Hooch needs three big bowls, water, beer and food. Kir would be lovely. Not had kir in many a moon.

I can bring the super dooper enormous toblerones in my excess baggage.

oooooo I luv you all!! :o

eek, soundman, patsy and jet :D

choc fountain...and giant toblerones....can we also have the toblerone cocktails :D

and maybe also some chocolate fondues mmmmmmm

Actually there is a traditional Australian delicacy called a deep fried Mars Bar that would appeal to you Miggie.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

it seems that the party has shifted in theme from individual dinning tables to a buffet style. The replies indicate that you wish to move from table to table and mix with the other invited guests. If that is what you would like we at Milliways are certainly capable of doing.

This brings us to the house band.

From a list of people living or dead please suggest your preferred band choice. The band can be existing eg "Rolling Stones" or "Led Zeppelin" with or without dead members. You may also create you own "super group", the choice as always is yours. For those of you who prefer, for want of a better word "doof doof" music please advise you DJ of choice. For the more refined tastes we can provide a full phillharmonic orchestra so insert composer and/or conductor.

yours

Speaking of dead members... :o

It would have to be something background or it would be a waste of time having the great conversationalists there, The Eagles? Lobo? Bread?

Nooo.... The Carpenters!!!

Right had to think about this one after doling out toblerone to every one, tis' true we need moosaak, so here goes -

(Perhaps also my dining partners)

Bruce the boss

Elvis

James Taylor

Otis Redding

Robbie Williams

Ronan Keeting

another six to go

Johny Halliday

Dido

Maddonna

Vanesa Paradis

Tina Turner

and the best to the last - JANIS JOPLIN

Sig Sig Sputnik, Syd Vicious & The Dead Kennedys.

Clash. New Order. Depeche Mode.

James Brown.

Nick Kershaw.

Talking Heads.

Barnsy.

Beastie Boys.

That'l do for now - I'll get to the far more important line-up next. The DJ's, rap artists & producers.

Who were your dinner guests again? I seem to have missed them along the way?

See Barnsy at the Port Power opening night? They had to pour several buckets of water over him to get him capable of performing and on stage.... still, class will out.

I was almost taking you seriously up until.......

Nick Kershaw.

I got it bad, you don't know how bad I got it.

You got it easy you don't know when you got it good.

Almost Tinglish .... ok I'll give you that one... at least you didn't say Rick Astley.

Howard Jones would have been a better choice though.

Are we all giving away our age or our music tastes? :o

Oh, I thought you said deaf members. Ne'er mind. Just play elevator music so we all have something to complain about if the conversation stumbles. I love JANIS, too, but if we have all these famous folks on stage, some old geezers will want to get up and try to dance, others will sing along (off key) and then someone will end up crying when they play an old love song.

Alright, Count Basie and Sarah Vaughan. Look at me...

PS, Hooch needs really BIG bowls and he chews on sofas when bored.

Probably both. As someone hopelessly mired in the mid 60's to late 70's but with a firm hand hold onto early last century blues that is my preferred genre. However my collection dates from Classical to current releases. I have just finished loading up my collection of CDs that I brought with me to Thailand and they make up 250Gig of MP3s. The smaller external hard drive that I use for my iPod is only 160Gig and equates to 1050 albums. The rest of my CDs are still in storage in Oz.

CB

Milliways

Depeche Mode.

YES PLEASE!!!

and Kurt Cobain with Nirvana :D

and Metallica

and let Bach and Mozart and Beethoven jam with them :o

can I bring Roxette along too <<blush>>

I have always been curious what would happen if you got great composers from the past and let them jam with modern composers? I think that they would produce something special.

ermm did we sort out the dessert list yet?

can I request some appetiser as follows?

Great video. Watched it about 15 years ago. I think the original concert was 1969. I was only a glint in my daddys eyes.

I can get him to reform the Dixie Dreggs is you like - much more adventurous there than in DP although even Richie Blackmore has stated in several guitar mags of all the players that have covered his role in DP, Steve Morse is his favourite. Morse is a fantastic player but everything he does sounds simple - until you try to do it. Morse also is not afraid to alter the solos for classic Purple songs. His retake on Highway Star from their tour across Europe had all the guitar freaks going "wow - that is cool".

Genius is able to transend time and technology. Putting someone such as Mozart in front of a modern keyboard and he would create whole new symphonies based around sounds not available then. With a sampling machine and a sequencer he would come up with things no one else has contemplated. The reason for this is that new technology opens up new parameters for discovery. Imagine pairing up Mozart with Hendrix and listening to what happens. We at Milliways did that and the recording is available in the foyer next to the concierge's desk. Please feel to browse through our other selections of similar pairings. We also have paired up artists such as Rembrant and Picasso - the results I think you will see are incredible. I personally like the way Michaelangelo and Warhol collaborated on our ceiling in the main hall.

We look forward to your comments on these and many other interesting features when you visit us for your dinner party.

That's some music collection!

I lent the 160gig external drive to Austhaied and mcgriffith a couple of weeks ago and they both went nuts over it. When I finally get the rest of my CDs sent over I will need several more similar drives to load them. I usually have a small selection of 40Gig on the actual laptop and keep the rest on the external HD. I then put the music on random selection and see what comes up next. In my house in Sydney I had a Wurlizer Juke box that had been retrofitted with a CD player - held about 100 disks. My exwife gave it away to a friend of hers with the disks because she knew I really liked it.
