The Ultimate Dinner Party

Lets not get into ex wives... but seeing as we have done: mine gave away all my tools, books, CDs, videos and most of my clothes.

I'm just glad that hot little Lao lady was worth it.

I wanna sit with the chicks.....I like light (non-philosophic) conversation when at dinner, a flute of decent Champagne, perhaps a bit of Royal Stilton with fruit, a light salad.

You guys can go argue with Jesus, Kirkegard, Heinrich Himmler, whoever. I'm gonna eat chocolates with mig16 and Jettie and eek.

Go ahead and say it- call me a pussy. I've been called worse....... :o

As for your time/space continuum, Crow Boy, please present me as I was in 1969, a young version of Robert Plant...

Thank you very much for your consideration, will be looking forward to meeting all of you (I'm lying). :D

...you wanna sit with us griffy... but then you call us "chicks" then make a presumption that we only indulge in "light (non-philosophic) conversation".... :D

You would have a much better chance of joining us if you sounded a tad less chauvinistic :D:o

That's just what I was thinking. I want to sit with all you lovely, intelligent and witty ladies and have deep and meaningful conversation. :D

Red Hot Chili Peppers - how could i have forgotten my favourite band?

I was going to make a point about you referring to the ladies who will be attending the dinner as "chicks" and then dissing them by saying you like "light(non philosophical) conversation when at dinner" but noticed that it had already been addressed. Still have to say that the combination of stilton and champagne is just wrong. Stilton is such a strong cheese it only works with a robust port or even better a muscat (no not a musket you bozo). Champagnes delecate taste would be overpowered by the stilton.

I know this for a fact because I have called you a number of things that would get me a permanent vacation off this board myself :D

The time/space continuum is particularly interesting. If we set it for "self image" then it will transmogrify you to the point in time when you looked your best. Note there are some limits so while your self image as a young Robert Plant is understandable the reality will probably be more like John Bonham with all the sweat but not the talent.

I hope this will suffice

Are we all giving away our age or our music tastes? :o

Probably both. As someone hopelessly mired in the mid 60's to late 70's but with a firm hand hold onto early last century blues that is my preferred genre. However my collection dates from Classical to current releases. I have just finished loading up my collection of CDs that I brought with me to Thailand and they make up 250Gig of MP3s. The smaller external hard drive that I use for my iPod is only 160Gig and equates to 1050 albums. The rest of my CDs are still in storage in Oz.

CB

Milliways

That's some music collection!

I lent the 160gig external drive to Austhaied and mcgriffith a couple of weeks ago and they both went nuts over it. When I finally get the rest of my CDs sent over I will need several more similar drives to load them. I usually have a small selection of 40Gig on the actual laptop and keep the rest on the external HD. I then put the music on random selection and see what comes up next. In my house in Sydney I had a Wurlizer Juke box that had been retrofitted with a CD player - held about 100 disks. My exwife gave it away to a friend of hers with the disks because she knew I really liked it.

CB

Biatch..

For those of you interested in these things I did a quick search on google (where else?) and found a picture of the beast in all its glory

post-36525-1188706373_thumb.jpg post-36525-1188706406_thumb.jpg

While there I then found my "oh I gotta get me one of these" iPod compatable Wurlizer Juke box. Holds 100 CDs and has a plug in port for the iPod.

It is only US$10,000 in local earth currency. I will have to speak to our procurements manager and get one for my office in Milliways. The neat thing about being in this business is that I can put 1c on deposit in say 1920 and the accumulated interest will be sufficient to purchase it in 2007. I can add it to my personal collection of player pianos, wax roller edisons, and gramophones. We also have an extensive collection of other such antique technology such as DVD and CD players in our museum.

If you are interested in purchasing one for your own use the link is Wurlizer Yeah Yeah Gimme One.

Dear C.B.,

After reading an old revue of "Milliways Restaurant" I am wondering if this ethereal, epicurean establishment is still open for business. I fear that maybe a new intergalactic highway had forced it's closure and that I maybe forced to seek alternative arrangements.

Your prompt attention to this enquiry would be most appreciated.

Stoically yours

Dear Epictetus,

thankyou for your recent enquiry. We wish to advise that Milliways is still open and available for your patronage. The Intergalactic Hyperway has not affected us because due to our onboard hyperdrive and a large quantity of good old fashioned tea we are able to shift position to every point with the galaxy at the same time. This has many benefits to us and our clients in that we can be the restaurant right next door as well as the restaurant at the end of the Universe. It also is a handy way of keep ahead of creditors.

We hope to hear from you soon and look forward to your booking.

Excellent choice sir and will Josephine Baker wish to sing for her supper so to speak? We can provide a small backing orchestra of her choice. Perhaps Messers Menuhin, Grapelli and Reinhart with the Miles Davis Group?

Your restaurant comes highly recommended and we look forward to joining you soon.

We have booked the ACO for them to play during the actual meal.

Very good choice of food and wines - I have spoken with our cellar master and he has determined you to be a man of taste so is preparing a few extra special limited vintages for your palate selection on the evening.

Milliways have taken the liberty of depositing a silver shilling with the Bank of England in retropective accumulative compound interest plus a few judicious investment in the then emerging Steam Ship technology of the time you now have sufficient capital to pay for the meal and leave us a substantial tip.

Thank you and we look forward to the fact that your dinner party will be booked for last year and you may travel at your leasure to a time portal of you choosing.

We are sure you will enjoy the meal that you have already had.

It was virtually the most delicious I have ever tasted and also one that I am eagerly in anticipation of.

Miss Baker asked that perhaps she could do something with a banana rather than just sing.

Oh ! and,

John will be up to see Mae sometime, with possibly a gun in his pocket.

She was the nightingale of Harlem - great singer.

Oh ! and,John will be up to see Mae sometime, with possibly a gun in his pocket.

He did alway say that happiness is a warm gun - but he also said a lot of other twaddle about Lucy in the sky with Diamonds, yellow submarines, walruses, and octopuses in the their garden so it shows that he is barking mad.

Rythm guitar: Keith Richards

Guests...whoever...maybe Liv Tyler later on.... :D

drums: Zack Starkey (the kid is REALLY good...)

Zack who is Richard Starkey's aka Ringo Star son and yes he is a very accomplished drummer but so is Jason Bohnam son of John. With Zack I am assuming he got all his talent from his mother (Barbara Bach) :D

bass: John Entwistle

keyboards: Keith Emerson

Rythm guitar: Keith Richards

Lead Guitar: Neil Young & Jeff Beck

Neil Young on LEAD guitar - Neil the man who did a whole solo consisting of one note? The man who inspired Lynyrd Skynyrd to write "Sweet Home Alabama"?

Vocals: tough........possibly David Lee Roth

Roth is a great showman but has a limited range and delivery. Still one of the best frontmen in the business and I love his singing. If you like Roth check out the band Black Oak Arkansas with the vocalist Jim Dandy. Roth was a huge fan of Dandy and emulated his style to perfection. But Mick Jagger did the same with Little Richard when they toured together in an early 60's multi band tour in the UK.

Steven Tyler (just listening to Hangman Jury.........)

Steve Tyler and Joe Perry were friends and went to see the Original Fleetwood Mac when they were a blues band and not a pop group. The show they saw became the famed "Tea Gardens" recording. The show was the last one that Peter Green did before he quit the band to take up drugs full time. The album was released as a single LP then a double a while later as the reformed Fleetwood Mac struggled to recover from his departure. Mick Fleetwood was hot for a backing singer named Christine Perfect but she took up with John McVie and became Christie McVie until they got divorced at which stage she became" the bitch from hel_l who ripped me off for everything" McVie. Didn't stop them from touring together (as long as the money and cocaine didn't run out). The Boston Tea Garden concert has been remastered from tapes that apparently Peter Green walked off with when he quit the band. They were done into a triple CD pack with copies of the original packaging - get them really good stuff.

Steve Tyler was a fan of Steve Marriot (who was the original Oliver in the stage production) from the Small Faces. From there Marriot went onto form Humble Pie with Peter Frampton on guitar. Perry was a great admirer of Frampton and bought a Gibson Les Paul because of that influence. Also the Heil voice box and numerous other Frampton effects. A story about Perry is that when Aerosmith toured in support of Frampton he photographed Framptons effects rig and said to his guitar tech - build me one of these and put the settings the same as on the photo.

Food: Finger food, burgers, whatever...loads of beer

And what more could a man possibly want than beer and burgers

Guests...whoever...maybe Liv Tyler later on.... :o

Ahh yes of course after the beer and burgers the delicious Ms Tyler for dessert :D

So I take it Mrs Raro will not be with you on your visit to Milliways?

CB

Milliways were we are always discrete but reserve the right to the video recordings we make :D

Neil Young on LEAD guitar - Neil the man who did a whole solo consisting of one note? The man who inspired Lynyrd Skynyrd to write "Sweet Home Alabama"?

yep! He makes more with one note than Yngwie Malmsteen with a 1000...that's what music is all about.

They were done into a triple CD pack with copies of the original packaging - get them really good stuff.

guess what raro has on vynil? :o ....and Black Magic Woman is NOT a Santana song..... :D
