For those who don't know , the CIA funds and arms competing cartels. The cartels themselves say it

These cartels have such huge cashflow, that even western nations find it difficult to avoid corruption amongst their border control-customs-dockyard officials.

It could be time to tackle the issue the other way round. Apprehend and reprimand the drug consumers as it is a lost battle to try to fight the traffickers. One cartel goes down, 10 others take his place.

Start by making sporadic drug screening tests on top level politicans, parliament members, officers of the law, judges, bankers, teachers, journalists....make it know that such tests could hit them anyday and if found positive they could face retribution and public shaming.

Eradicate the consumers and drug consumption. It will naturally stop the trafficking.

Until 4 yrs ago I spent 1-6 months of my life there, every year, I'm 60. Pretty sure I have a better than average understanding of its history with Narcos. My family still lives there.

Chicken little ? I am going to Mexico in a matter of weeks. I know most ppl don't know this because its not on CNN, but the CIA is fully invested in arming cartels over each other and the usual business of making bad things worse.

Yes, make it so all young children, who's brains are still developing into their 20's, access to mind and body altering drugs. Cocaine, heroin, meth, pills of all kinds, and see how our world develops. Isn't bad enough so many don't have fathers around, but have them whacked out of their minds, forgetting about education and working in their futures, stealing and killing for a high, along with all the others who already do, and see how many homeless end up afterwards. Good population control though, where millions more innocents who could have been helping society are in prison, hooked on junk, or dead. That answer sure puts into a focus a few other things.

In their 20s is not children.

If they can drive, vote, fight in wars and f@#£, they can choose to take drugs.

Maybe they shouldn't be allowed in church until the same age, to stop mad men indoctrinating them.

Of course I meant from pre-teen to mid 20's, when the brain is still developing. That they can vote, fight and drive are decisions made by humans, who have a penchant for having some grow up and take responsibilities too early, like the 15 year age limit for sex here and even younger in some places.

Keeping drugs away from children as long as possible means they might not get into them at all, or at least not when those brains aren't making rational decisions.

We've all seen the consequences of driving too early, and going to war as teenagers has killed millions who aren't prepared enough mentally to take a life, and many times end up dead because of it.

Of course having sex before you're prepared for what happens mentally to many, along with unwanted pregnancies where grandma has to raise the children, because the children aren't old enough to understand how, is a disaster, and the cycle often repeats itself within families.
