ontario government restricts the Ontario Stereo Acquisition Program

Featured Replies

In probably the best move posible the Ford government has cancelled access to the OSAP student loans. Thsi cuts out a lot of money that students got and never repaid.

To give you an idea of what it was like, Johnny decides he wants to go to Queens and take a BA course in history. He is only going because he really does not want to get a job, and it is the only alternative. Queen's is chosen because Kingston has a wild party scene and lots of great bars.

Johny needs spending money, so he applies for an Ontario Student Assistance Plan. He is accepted, and the cheques come at the right time as he is running low on funds. Friday, he goes to the bar and with his friends that have a great time.

Unfortunatley Johny forgets that he has classes and flunks out of Queens in the winter. He stillhas the debt but does not have to repay it and just lives his life.

The Ontario government has finally removed that and students are upset, but it is going to mean less students getting free rides not a bad thing

PS the alternative in the 70's to going out and spending it on booze and female students was buying the most Kick ass stereo system they could find for the dorm Stereo party wars LOL

Maybe all governments should consider reducing the amount of funding provided or restricting it to certain areas of study.

Imagine Somchai gets a loan to spend 5 years learning English at a university here. Where does he get a job with just a BA in English.
