Cambodian Fishing Boat Crew Detained After Crossing into Thai Waters off Trat

Thai naval authorities detained a fishing vessel off Trat after it was reportedly found operating about one nautical mile inside Thai waters. The Royal Thai Navy said a patrol unit spotted the boat during a routine patrol and identified three Cambodian crew members on board. Officials said the vessel was fishing in Thai territorial waters and later reported that it had no visible name, nationality, or documentation, with no identification papers found for the crew. The crew reportedly told authorities they had been hired by a Cambodian financier as part of a group of fishing boats and claimed they did not realise they had crossed the maritime boundary. The suspects and vessel were taken to the Khlong Yai district for investigators to continue legal proceedings.
