Iran Nears Missile Deal with China Amid Rising Tensions

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

Iran is close to completing a purchase agreement with China for advanced anti-ship cruise missiles, as the U.S. positions a major naval force near Iran, signaling possible military actions.

Details of the Deal

The agreement for Chinese-made CM-302 missiles is almost finalized, with these missiles prized for their speed and capability to evade ship defenses. With a range of about 290 kilometers, they would significantly enhance Iran's military reach and threat to U.S. naval forces in the region.

Negotiations, ongoing for over two years, gained momentum after a recent conflict between Israel and Iran. Senior Iranian officials, such as Deputy Defense Minister Massoud Oraei, have traveled to China to expedite discussions.

Strategic Implications

Danny Citrinowicz, a former Israeli intelligence officer, described this acquisition as a "gamechanger," offering Iran substantial new strike capabilities. However, the specifics of the deal, including the number of missiles and delivery timelines, remain undisclosed.

An Iranian foreign ministry official stated the purchase fits within Iran's existing military agreements, and China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs claims no awareness of these discussions.

Regional Dynamics

This prospective sale underscores deepening military cooperation between China and Iran, complicating U.S. attempts to curb Iran’s missile and nuclear ambitions. China, along with Iran and Russia, routinely conducts joint naval exercises.

The U.S. has responded by deploying significant forces, including the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, near Iran. President Trump issued a stark ultimatum to Iran to consent to a nuclear agreement or face severe consequences within days.

Military Enhancements

Acquiring the CM-302 missiles would significantly bolster Iran's arsenal, depleted by recent conflicts. Reports indicate Iran is also in negotiations with China for other military technologies, including surface-to-air missiles, anti-ballistic weapons, and anti-satellite systems.

China was a major arms supplier to Iran in the 1980s, although such transfers dwindled due to international pressure. While Chinese firms have been accused of supplying missile materials to Iran, public confirmation of complete system deliveries is lacking.

Conclusion

As regional tensions escalate, this missile deal signifies a notable shift in the power dynamics, showcasing China’s growing influence in an area traditionally dominated by U.S. military strength. The situation remains fluid, with potential implications for regional security and diplomatic relations.

Simple answer, Donald needs to blast them off the face of the planet before the deal is done 👍

Dust off the JCPOA and accept the humiliation. The world doesn’t need another war.

I suspect the acquisition of these missiles will be added to the case for a U.S. strike now. Maybe another misstep by the Iranian leadership?

The glee with which the leftist media will show if Trump turns everything around and sends it all home.... Spinning that as anything other than egg on face will not be an easy job.
The greatest travesty in this whole scenario is all those people who kept demonstrating in the belief that help was on the way because that is what they were told... my guess is they are the ones that are all dead I see that as blood on the presidents hands aka promises made promises not kept

For sure.

It's Hungary,1956 all over again.

Other, more recent examples could be cited as well.

This missle deal with China will scare the pee out of Trump.

The US/Israeli game plan for the Middle East has become a shambles.

Those religious nutters that run Iran are nasty but that is an Iranian problem to solve. The US needs to be taught a lesson about interfering in other countries business and sinking a carrier would show them their interference comes with a price.

We all know it's about oil, but that violent, oppressive regime needs to go, so any excuse is good for humanity.

You forgot to mention Israel.

Not to see that is either profound ignorance or pushing an agenda.

Good news. One looks forward to the axis of evil US-Nato-Israel getting another black eye after the Ukraine debacle. But the armada will probably turn and flee, leaving us short of the satisfying climax of a closing shot of the USS Lincoln a hulking gray mass on the seabed.

The sun is setting on the US/Israeli hegemon in the middle east and Trump's ill advised adventure is hastening this. Good. A multipolar world will probably prove safer where countries stay in their lanes - which the never did in the American Century and China has every right to help allies defend. their own interests.

‘Crisis of his own making’: Donald Trump weighs another war with Iran

The US military build-up was designed to coerce Tehran — but has failed - FT

https://archive.ph/aVCZv

But Israeli intelligence has concluded that even with the imminent arrival of the USS Gerald R Ford later this week, the US has military capacity to sustain just a four- to five-day intense aerial assault, or a week of lower-intensity strikes, an Israeli intelligence official told the FT.

American casualties would also risk domestic blowback in Trump’s Maga constituency and among voters generally more wary of war than inaction towards Iran. A quarter of Republicans say they oppose a US military intervention in Iran under the current circumstances, while 40 per cent support it, according to a new poll by the University of Maryland. The vast majority of Democrats said they oppose it.

“Who wants this? Nobody wants this,” said Miller at the Carnegie Endowment. “We’re sleepwalking towards a war, in search of a strategy.”

Oh and a reminder before the faux humantarian moralizers start their tired mantras of concern for Iran - add up Vitenam , Afghnistan et al millions lie dead. Let that sink in.

US-Caused Iraqi Casualties

The US invasion of Iraq (2003) and its aftermath resulted in approximately 500,000 to 1 million Iraqi deaths.

This includes:

  • Direct deaths from violence (~400,000-600,000)

  • Indirect deaths from infrastructure collapse, disease, and healthcare failure (~200,000-400,000)

Key caveats:

  • Exact numbers are contested and politically charged

  • Conservative estimates (documented deaths only): ~200,000

  • Higher scientific estimates (including indirect deaths): ~1 million+

  • The chaos of war makes precise counting impossible

For context:

  • Saddam Hussein's 24-year rule: ~250,000-500,000 deaths

  • The "humanitarian intervention" likely killed more Iraqis than the dictator it removed

  • This death toll is comparable to the Rwanda genocide and exceeds the Syrian civil war

Sources: Iraq Body Count, Lancet studies (2004, 2006), Opinion Research Business survey (2007), Physicians for Social Responsibility analysis (2015)

The US government has never released an official count and famously stated "we don't do body counts."

My champagne is already on ice for that outcome. Analysts are questioning why the US would take such an existential risk threatening not just its global standing but the world economy.

The answer lies in Israel's calculation that regional chaos serves its interests better than diplomacy. If this strategy backfires, both nations may find their influence dramatically diminished.

In fact, given what the shill Huckabee blurted about Israel's plans to steal more and more land, one hopes a barrage of Iranian missiles might put an end to the Zionist state's ambitions if not its existence.

he didn't quite say that - he said bibilcally it was the case but the current state was determend by UN resolution that Arab states through war chose to question.

The Chinese hardware they used when we blew their installations recently, failed.

They have lots of issues with china not being able to deliver and what they do deliver rarely works correctly.
Russia just can't deliver at all.

You are quessing (for a better word) without proper facts. US blew up the Russian weapons. There are no Chinese missiles system in Iran as they have not been delivered. Iran has signed another $700 million weapon deal with Russia for the S-300 missile system. Blew your bs that Russia can't deliver. Come on, get some facts.

Reading is fundamental, where did I say anything about

"china missile system"

or

"Russia signing anything"

While I wait, I'm "guessing", thats the word you were looking for

So, hows that awesome hardware working out for the sympathizers here ?

Kinda quiet today. 😂

Today's happenings really taught the US a lesson. Great call.
