Which bit of "The UK has a long and proud tradition of providing a safe haven for the persecuted" is unclear?

As a matter of fact, the Huguenots were persecuted in France and many were given safe haven in England. Not knowing this is yet another example of your almost complete ignorance of Britain.

Yes, some idiots are useful; others are simply idiots

Nearly every country discriminates against those from another country. Try washing up on a Thai beach as a farang or a black and demanding the same treatment as a native. Your fluffy ideas are nonsense and thankfully ignored by most

The majority of people have no difficulty understanding the difference between legal and illegal immigration, and the majority of people are also sympathetic to genuine refugees.

You are obviously not one of the majority.

You need to look outside your goldfish bowl. Fortunately - and no doubt despite your best efforts - right-wing dictatorships are still thin on the ground

You are not brave you simply lack moral fiber if you were around in ww2 you’d probably invite the Germans for tea and call the Brit’s fighting them bigots

I've never claimed to be brave and I have no idea how I'd react in a frontline battle. Fortunately at my age, this is unlikely to be tested.

I'm the one who opposes discrimination. Bigotry is your province. Given your views, it's certainly more likely that you would invite Nazis in for tea and crumpets than me.

(My apologies, I should explain: A crumpet is a type of bread which was quite popular in the UK (less so now). Brits and knowledgeable Anglophiles know this but I thought it best to explain this word as you don't fall into either of those categories).

Very few share your silly lib views outside your little echo chamber

Britain is lucky they don’t have too many lily livered simps like you or they’d be speaking German

You should grow a pair instead of supporting the ruination of a once great country

When weak men do nothing…

You continually and continuously prove that you know virtually nothing about the UK.

As I implied earlier, the simpletons are those who think that they can solve a nation's problems by "eradicating" those who look and/or think differently to them.

Homogenous societies continually outperform so called diverse societies like Europe and the UK

The uk is a mess and much of it is down to so called diversity your little dream is proving to be a massive failure

Asia grows in strength and looks at the west and laughs at us and its lib fools causing it

You soy boys on the left are pathetic leading the charge to destroy what has been built over centuries to impress other simps at the latte shop.

I bet you’re a white guys for Harris member my god it’s so embarrassing to have westerners like you around

Didn't Australia propose a similar *** law after a few **** died on the beach. The press didn't have a problem with that. This thread is much ado about nothing.

Of course, it's BS again! There is absolutely no evidence that homogeneous societies are outperforming less homogeneous countries! 😂

And the US has never been homogeneous, nor have most Asian countries, except maybe for Japan. Certainly not China, Singapore, and most SE countries.

Asia is far more homogeneous than western countries hence they rise as we fall

Shared values shared goals and a sense of community. Patriotism and national pride

A beautiful thing and a recipe for success. That why libs hate it they only seek to destroy

No. It's just taking curbs on speech we have in the country, and putting that to social media.

At the moment you can have children and everyone in the UK, exposed to anti semtisim or islamaphobia from someone posting in a country like India. This is where you need the crackdown on social media companies.

Yes, censorship is away the answer.

Your multicultural wet dream is failing so all you have is the same old insults you need new material and some courage

Destroying your homeland won’t make you happy. Fix yourself rather than destroying things that remind you of the traits you are so rightly ashamed of

Not all Brit’s are as sad as you. Strive to emulate the countrymen that make you feel so inadequate, not eliminate them

Be proud of the countrymen better than you. Not jealous

You still have time to do it Ray. You can do it. Every day is another chance to turn it all around

That may be so, but I don't recall Mary Whitehouse threating to behead anyone over that.

Perhaps, but in 1988, Christian Fundamentalists linked to the French NF firebombed a cinema for showing The Last Temptation of Christ.

My response was to someone equivocating the lampooning of a Jewish person with the ridicule of a leader of a religion.

There is plenty of comedy taking the piss out of Muslim people, such as Citizen Khan, Goodness Gracious Me, Carry on Up the Khyber. No one burnt down a cinema because Sid James was having a bit of Tiffin' or Bernard Bresslaw said Fakir! Off! In fact if you watched that film very carefully; consider how careful the jokes were, in 1968. Then setting was the Khyber Pass in the 1890s, a Muslim Area. The rebels were lead by the duplicitous Khasi of Kalabar, played by Kenneth Williams. Bresslaw played the viscious mountain man Bungdit Din. The characters were clearly designed to make one think of Pathan tribesmen, who made a habit of piling up heads of slain British squaddies by the side of the road. But, the characters invoked religious curses, threatening a death by a thousand cuts (which is technically one of the Qing dynasty punishments), before chortling the British were used to cuts, but invoking a completely fictional god. Were the makers of the film afraid that someone was going to come around and cut their head off? Probably not, I suspect, back then people thought you can take the piss out of a man, but never his religion. People since have become uncouth, and deliberately seek to cause hurt to others, through some possibly sexual gratification.

And note there is a difference between mocking a church or an institution and mocking the belief system itself. Muslims regularly take the piss out of the Mullahs, even in Iran,

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2004/apr/28/iran.film

Now while I could take the piss out of Jesus, Jehovah, Buddha, Vishnu, I don't really feel inclined to, and I don't understand anyone who feels the urge to. Would I want such comedy banned? Yes I would, because such work adds nothing to society, all it does is sew discord and hate.

In general, Western societies have abolished blasphemy laws, in favour of anti-hate speech laws. I don't believe anyone has the right to hurt anyone else, how ever that is achieved. It sounds like a lot here want the right to hurt people.

No religion in a secular society should be put above any others. So either none are protected or all are protected. If the Muslims want more protection for their religion, maybe its because they are standing up for themselves, rather than giving in to people full of hate for their fellow man. And yes, I know there are some Muslims who feel that way as well. Whats shocking, when it comes to established hate, is how routine it is for Southern Baptists and their ilk to be certain that all Catholics will burn in hell.

The film to which your link leads came out 21(!) years ago. Is that your proof of "regularly" taking the piss out of the Mullahs? Can you give a more recent example? The article in your link indicated the film had been popular because it was unique in poking fun at Iranian clerics.

Your bigotry becomes plainer with every post, Ray.

I might start taking advice from you seriously, if and when you manage to sort out your own very serious moral deficiencies.

Of course, it's not true. That's laughable! 😂

There are several different ethnic and religious groups in China, Singapore, as well as in SEA countries such as Thailand or Malaysia.

Not all native British people are weak minded losers so stop trying to destroy them

Like the Muslims constantly blowing up the south of Thailand ?

Another great advert for multi culturing

Muslims are taught it is OK to lie to infidels. The Koran states infidels can be killed. The penalty for apostasy is death.

Is that hate speech, or statements of fact?

Yea, it makes the case against mass immigration.

I wonder if this old sign from the now-defunct Roo Bar on Walking Street in Pattaya would be considered anti-Islamic under the U.K. definition. I believe the wording of the sign goes back to a Thai-owned bar in Bangkok in the 1980s, but many farang thought it funny and the sign spread after the Internet took hold. You could see this sign in numerous bars in the 1990s.

In its day, this sign was much m ore prevalent than anti-Israeli signs.

I've had this photo for years; I don't remember the source.

You clearly know more about self-loading than me, Ray, but then bigotry is nothing to be proud of, is it.

If you take religious texts to that level you would be here all day. Many religions state that homosexuality is a sin, but today it's a ridiculous idealogy to suggest so.

Every religion has interpretations that when take them literally look out of place in a modern world.
