Homogeneous countries don't show a higher petformance (ever heard of negentropy? See Japan), and most Asian countries are not homogenous, starting with China and Singapore.

Singapore is split between Chinese, Malaysian and Indian, and with a significant expat population. Vietnam has an influent Chinese minority, and people from the South don't like those from the North so much. Etc...
