No, they must be on a mix of meth and alcohol for that. If they were smoking weed they would be in a pizza shop trying to hug everyone. You got your stims mixed up

I used to assume there was at least some basic level of intelligence and cognitive function required to make it all the way to Pattaya from a foreign land. After all, you have to book an international flight, get yourself through airport security, board the correct plane, deal with immigration at the other end, and then somehow manage ground transport from Bangkok to your final Puh-Tai-Ya destination. That seems like a sequence of tasks that would require at least a halfway functioning brain. For a long time I genuinely believed there had to be some minimum IQ requirement hiding somewhere in that process.

But after watching the endless parade of characters starring in Instagram clips of fights, group brawls, and crime in general who manage to arrive there every single week, I have started to revise that theory quite dramatically. The place attracts an astonishing collection of knuckle draggers, fugitives, drunks, oxygen thieves, mugs, muppets, industrial strength bell ends, and every other variety of wandering idiot from the UK, Europe, the US, India, Russia, the Middle East, and anywhere else that sells airline tickets. Some of these blokes look like they struggle to operate the zipper on their suitcase or even put on an airplane neck pillow correctly, yet somehow they have successfully navigated international travel and landed themselves on Soi Buakhao with a cold beer in their hand and a well-ridden slapper on their knee.

So maybe the real requirements are much simpler than we thought. A passport helps. A credit card also helps. A prescription for Viagra probably does not hurt. The ability to shout “well hello beautiful” every fifteen seconds in a bar is clearly essential. A heroic tolerance for beer before 10 AM is useful. The confidence to chat up a ladyboy without realizing it is a cock in a frock seems almost mandatory. And above all, the unshakeable belief that every girl half their age (or less) who smiles when they saunter by has fallen deeply in love with them in the first thirty seconds. First place "Handsome Man" contest winners, the whole lot of them. When you view it through that lens, it becomes fairly clear that IQ probably never played much of a role in the journey over to the melee in the first place. My bad. 😄

I give in. You seem to have managed it so tell us your IQ so we can use it as a bellweather.

If I was single, it would cost a lot more for companionship / sex, than being married. My monthly budget is ~30k, and socializing, especially if going the P4P route, would be a lot more than that, just for dining out and alcohol cheesy

If socializing like most people, and wanting to have sex a few times a week. Although when single here, TH, I didn't have a problem dating gals, though lots of short lived relationships, if not just a one nighters. No P4P, for myself, as really no need to pay.

Takes speaking a wee bit of Thai, and staying clear of farang catering venues. I was usually the only farang at any venue that I was on the prowl at. TH is a great place to be single, and no need for P4P, unless just wanting convenience. Not for me, as seems really boring. Spending time and waking up next to someone is more me. Hi, how much, thanks, bye, doesn't work for me.

I could live cheaper single but not much.

I have said it before, my wife saves me money, a lot of money, and she gives me a stable life I have been opting for since I was young. She soothes and calms my nervous system, gives me hope for the humanity and Im happy, and been living a happy life since I met her. Thats something new to discover, and not chasing happiness in sports and work world wide. Finely coming home to someone who actually makes you a better human.

Thats something! I know you have said something similar about chasing dreams, but you found it here, or Im wrong?

Many married people are living like sheep.

Marriage isn't inherently a problem, but when you are surrounded by a bunch of other married couples as I did growing up in a large family, the family obligations and societal expectations get completely out of control.

You have no more time for yourself, to develop your own interests, or even just to think about anything other than maintaining appearances at the next social gathering.

Not to mention many married couples sit around playing "keeping up with the Joneses" with other married couples.

And most social gatherings are superficial fakery.

It's all very exhausting.

Fake people are common. Lots on here. Lots in every country. If you are a Sigma you won't care. It is very easy to get a good gf in Thailand though if you want one.

Happiness comes from doing what you want to do and not caring what the sheep do. Sigmas are more happy than the sheep (betas) and less stressed than the alphas (leaders).

They are not endless if you simply stop watching or searching for them.

Hope this helps.

Having Trump as your hero, and not being an American takes a special type of intelligence. And I find that remarkable and interesting when it comes to human psychology. How a political cult see no boarders, and especially when he goes against your own country, meaning you are not especially proud of your heritage or country.

I do not say Trump was wrong Nato should meet the higher ideal standards, buy less Russian oil, while on the other hand the intention was to keep Russia dependent on us, and not the other way around, basically we where played.

On the other hand, Us blames Europe, Canada, Australia and more for their own problems you see where this coming from, and it works for the masses very well. Even you

I doubt many people have him as there hero at all. They just find the far left unbearable and Trump is like Hulk Hogan, a real life cartoon character. Going to gym, eating well, thinking well changes your life. Trump has no impact on your life.

I would say Im an architect of my life, depended on the society, but still can live quite sustainable of our self if we have to, but it in the long run, we are all depended on the society and the social security system, and pretty much have to follow each and ones destinations rules more or less. We can imagine we are something we are not but in the long run, better to be honest.

I own Norway Everything, even I feel the right to criticise the government for stupidity, you have to remember politicians are just humans to, and we have to choose the right ones, not the loudest ones who think they know everything and think they are better than everyone else, but in general, just clowns in disguise.

If you are smart enough to realize the lie that you were told by your Church, Family, Friends, Work Colleagues, etc. about settling down, getting married, buy the house, have the three kids, two cars, toys, etc. Then assume you will live happily ever after and that your wife will start to ignore you, use sex as a power trip, kick you out of your own bedroom and maybe leave you for Chad, Tyrone or Jose, then your IQ meets Pattaya's minimum requirements.

That's because you have rent, electric & petrol bill. If not all bought in, my monthly cost would be double. Just to start ...

20k for rent, maybe 15k if going condo / townhouse route

5k for electric

5k for petrol

Congratulations on your choice of a partner- sadly I suspect you are in the minority among falang living here in Thailand

I mentioned before, there was a surfside 3 br townhouse, for 15k here, but they didn't take dogs. I'd be living living there, instead of building a house if they took dogs. Wake up every morning to the bay, without the need to drive there ... BLISS

The strange thing, I continue to hear that, especially here, but in real life, I meet others how seems to have the same as me one way or the other one their own way.

Luck? Maybe, still it comes down to choice of partner, and also knowing her family and friends combination with time.

a low level IQ is required to go there in the first place.

Guess it depends on one's social circles, but most people I knew in Udon Thani (farang, family & other Thais), that actually lived there, were long time married folks. Well settled in, and most quite happy.

Don't know any farangs where we are now, but Thai friends, are also married and seem happy.

Bars all over the world have fights.

But there are way too many bars in Pattaya.

The whole vibe of the city is not of a normal city at all.

There's music blaring from some of the bars at 9 AM like it's party time 24/7.

It's unhealthy to live in such a place.

A guy may start off being whatever, but living there for years makes it worse. You lose sense of normalcy.

The vast majority of Pattaya's resident population does not live in the bar areas, which make up a very small part of greater Pattaya. You can easily live in Pattaya year-round and avoid those areas completely, as many do, including my spouse and me. In 15+ years here I've walked on Walking Street once, haven't been on Soi Buakhao in years.

My everyday life here is really not much different than my life in the US. A typical week in my town in the US would find me making several trips to the mall and to the grocery store, maybe going to the dentist for a check-up, doing some shopping at big box stores like Home Depot and Best Buy, eating out at local restaurants a few times a week, getting together with friends now and then, sometimes going antiquing and flea marketing, and maybe taking in a movie.

Normal stuff. And, I do the exact same weekly things here, except Home Pro instead of Home Depot, Power Buy instead of Best Buy, T21and Central Festival instead of my local mall, Tesco or Big C instead of Safeway, local restaurants and several big, local Japanese used/antiques stores here instead of the US versions, etc., etc. About the only difference is we eat out more here as it is so reasonable, we travel more, and we live, far from the tourist areas, in a much nicer, bigger abode than we could afford in the US.

Yep, love her, the dog, but a hassle when booking hotels.
