US Probe Finds American Missile Caused Deadly Iran School Strike

Featured Replies

Preliminary Inquiry Points to US Responsibility

A preliminary investigation by the United States military has reportedly concluded that an American missile strike was responsible for the deadly bombing of an elementary school in Iran earlier this year.

According to reporting by The New York Times, citing US officials familiar with the inquiry, the strike on 28 February that destroyed Shajarah Tayyebeh Elementary School was the result of a targeting error by US military planners.

Iranian authorities say at least 175 people were killed in the attack, most of them children, making it one of the deadliest incidents involving civilian casualties during the current conflict.

Missile Strike Linked to Targeting Error

The preliminary findings indicate that the strike involved a Tomahawk cruise missile launched during US operations in the region.

Investigators reportedly believe officers at United States Central Command created the coordinates for the strike using outdated intelligence data supplied by the Defense Intelligence Agency.

The mistake appears to have caused the missile to hit the school building rather than its intended target.

The school is located in the town of Minab near facilities used by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps naval forces.

Although the school building had once been part of the wider military complex, satellite imagery shows it had been separated from the base by walls for nearly a decade and displayed clear signs of being an educational facility.

Tehran’s Claims Gain Support

The preliminary findings appear to support claims made by Iranian officials that the United States carried out the strike.

Tehran previously released video footage of a missile hitting the area as well as images of debris said to include fragments of US-made weapon components.

Independent analysts had already suggested the evidence strongly pointed to American involvement.

Trump Blamed Iran

Despite the growing evidence, US President Donald Trump publicly blamed Iran for the bombing.

“In my opinion, based on what I’ve seen, that was done by Iran,” Trump said last week, arguing that Iranian weapons were inaccurate.

He did not present any evidence to support the claim.

US military spokespeople have not repeated the president’s accusation and have instead said the incident remains under investigation.

Pentagon Maintains Silence

Officials have declined to comment in detail while the inquiry continues.

In a brief statement, the Pentagon said: “The incident is under investigation.”

A spokesperson for US Central Command also said it would be inappropriate to discuss the findings until the investigation is complete.

The inquiry has not yet been finalised, and officials say further details may emerge as the investigation continues.

The U.S. administration can’t hide behind “targeting mistakes” forever!

A Pentagon probe has already confirmed that an American Tomahawk missile was responsible for the strike that killed well over 160 children in an Iranian school, caused by outdated targeting data and misidentification of the site.

Playing at war has real consequences - children died. Yet Washington’s first instinct was to deflect blame rather than accept responsibility.

Given the pattern of redactions, denials, and “ongoing investigations,” an official, unambiguous acknowledgment seems unlikely anytime soon.

The tragedy speaks for itself, even if the US administration won’t.

But Trump said that the US did not do it, therefore .... despite foreign and early US evidence to the contrary.

Alas, Trump is TACO is TALA (Trump Always Lies, Always), and has zero credibility, except for his "blind" followers.

I don't know how they knew it was a tomahawk but said the Iranians did it. Surely that would mean America sold tomahawks to Iran?

War crimes have been committed by US with the killings of civilians and children just like the indiscriminate bombing of Gaza by Israel.

trump lies, pretty much all the time, his brainless acolytes either believe his lies or lack critical or independent thinking ability, the whole lot of them are pathetic, as are the millions of americans who blindly follow these dangerous clowns.

As always, lies, lies, lies spewing out of Trump's mouth. When a reporter finally called him on it, his answer was somthing like, 'well, I didn't know anything.' So, if you don't know anything, don't automatically make up a lie. Just say you don't know. Is that so hard?

Listening to an expert it appears the targeting was done based on old data. The hospital and the school that were hit were once part of IRGC. The expert said 5 missiles were launched. Two warehouses (apparently empty), the school and the hospital. The fifth missile was designed to circle around and wait for instructions to hit based on the analysis of the 4 targets they hit. It was subsequently ordered to hit the school because it detected a lot of human movements indicating that one of the strikes hadn’t completely achieved its objective. They realize now the human movements were children ushered by adults to seek shelter. The expert described it as a war crime.

Why not, they have been doing so for at least 75 years!

It was based on old info, funny Iran just happened to put a school next to what they knew would be a military target.
Hardly comes close to a war crime but you know that.

What are the odds all those kids were already dead. Considering the fact that Iran has killed their own kids before, its not that far of a stretch.

Nil.

Your post is one of the worst I have ever seen here.

They hardly just "put it there".

And there are over 160 school within or attached to military compounds in the US, more overseas. Shame on the US for using these children as human shields!!

The hypocrisy and ignorance of MAGAstans never ceases to amaze.

Right, so now they were bombed while at school right out of the blue. Immediately the military rushed in and killed their own kids so it would look worse??

Why is it that MAGAstonians are so thick/blind/brainwashed that they can concoct the most ridiculous scenarios to justify anything Trump does? Do you not have even one brain cell capable of critical thought? Astonishing.

First of all say Iran did it. Then when it is obvious it was a US bomb say Iran might have got Tomahawks and they, erm, decided to use theirs in exactly the same place at the same time that America was using theirs. Then when it is proven that it was a US error (and possibly a war crime) say that Iran could have killed the kids.

The military expert said it was a war crime. He’d know more than you, me or AI. If you bother to read he said the visual feedback from the site showed people running around hence ordering the second strike. I think Iran is fighting within international laws as shown by much fewer human casualties they’ve caused vs USA/Israel attacks that have killed thousands of civilians. Hardly surprising and expected based on their recent misadventures all of which have failed.

The compound was a medical faciity operated by the IRGC. The school was adjacent The compound was hit, by missiles, and when further "human movement" was detected a decision was taken to strike the school.

That the intelligence was old is not an excuse. It is rather confirmation that the US enthusiasm for killing disregards the basic tenets of the Laws of Armed Conflict. "The intelligence was old" is not an excuse, if the intelligence was unsure then you should not have struck the compound, especially as it was in an area inhabited by civilians. T o strike a second time because you detected human movements is savage.

Imagine if the Walter Reid Military Hospital in Maryland was rocketed, and then an adjacent school was hit because "human movement was detected". Would you excuse it? Of course not, you would be shouting blue murder!

I agree with @stevenl, your post is one of the worst I have seen, a callous attempt to brush away a savage and merciless crime. The US has the most advanced and technologically expert military force on the planet. Unfortunatly their targetting procedures for all that technology are sadly lacking, careless and frankly incompetent. You should be ashamed, thoroughly ashamed, of yourself for even suggesting it could be justified.

And you know the real tragedy? No need for the whole bloody business at all, it is just to distract from the filthy scandal your "leader" has found his past perverted tastes have embroiled him in! Let's not beat about the bush, those children, and heaven knows how many others, have died because Trump has been caught <deleted> little girls, and this is to distract from that.

Vile, inhuman, and the US military has allowed itself to be brought in on it! Shame.
