Grab Philippines and MOVE IT have initiated a support program to aid their driver and rider partners affected by rising fuel prices. The program aims to protect the earnings of thousands of drivers across the country while maintaining reliable service for customers. This move comes in response to the continuous increase in fuel costs driven by Middle East tensions and global supply chain disruptions.

Grab Philippines Managing Director Ronald Roda emphasized the importance of ensuring drivers can earn sufficiently despite fluctuating oil prices. "Our main priority is to make sure our drivers continue to earn adequately for their families while providing reliable service," Roda stated. The program includes three key measures: fuel cost relief, earnings protection, and government collaboration.

Under the fuel relief program, driver-partners can receive discounts of up to P4 per liter at partner fuel stations such as Seaoil, Caltex, and Blu Energy. Additionally, nearly 20,000 eligible drivers using a Shell Fuel Card via Grab Finance will get a P3 per liter rebate. Grab has also implemented incentives to safeguard partner earnings, offering commission rebates and real-time cashback for GrabCar drivers, and a P3 Spot Bonus per delivery for GrabFood partners.

For motorcycle taxi riders, MOVE IT has launched "Power Pasada," a program providing fuel allowances and extra incentives during peak hours. Both platforms are engaging with the government regarding a fuel subsidy program, which offers TNVS professionals a P5,000 subsidy. The motorcycle taxi community has expressed support for MOVE IT’s response to the crisis.

Romeo Maglunsod, chairman of Motorcycle Taxi Community Philippines, stressed the importance of the sector working together. "It’s crucial for the transport ecosystem to ensure drivers not only survive but also thrive with decent earnings and support," he said. Grab and MOVE IT have pledged to monitor global oil market trends and are prepared to extend further support if necessary, reported Philstar.
