Where is the fuel line on a 2008 Mazda 3?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I am trying to fill the tank in my portable generator. Unfortunately, the little private pump that I typically use for this purpose at the end of the soi is out of fuel, and PTT said they wouldn't fill my can. No problem I thought. I'll just siphon it out of my car. But I found out my Mazda 3 has a ball valve and screen between the fuel neck and the tank so I can't push a hose into the tank. After watching a couple of videos online, it seems everyone recommends disconnecting the fuel line in the engine compartment and just pumping the fuel out. So that seems simple enough.

Sadly, when I opened my hood to look for the fuel line, I didn't see anything like what is shown in the videos. Can anyone give me some pointers on how to locate the fuel rail on a 2008 (2551) Mazda 3? And will I need a special tool to release a schrader valve, or is it a simple clamp?

Disappointing that the cars built for Thailand are apparently different than those made for export. Since I came to Thailand I've never had a need to work on a car, so it's been decades since I did anything more than change a battery. A lot has changed since the late 80's.

Any help is appreciated.
