Featured Replies

Bill Haley & His Comets, singing: See You Later, Alligator, recorded in December 1955 at Decca Records - as my coffin disappears behind the curtain.

Hmmm very difficult. I'll be dead so what would I care, I don't want people being overly morose so I suppose something stupid to make people giggle and to have one last jab at society's overly serious approach to life.

So yeah I'd have to go with garro's the Bright Side of Life too.

AC/DC - Have a drink on me (for the wake)

David Grey - Sail away

Metallica - Nothing Else Matters

"Nothing Else Matters" - mmmm, good choice O Dark One! :o

On the Floyd theme, I also love "Wish you were here", but I think if that were played at my funeral, the congregants might think I was wishing death on them! :D

Burning Bridges... Mike Curb Congregation

Theme tune for Kelly's Heroes (fun old movie)

I love it, watch it several times a year, along with Mash another war movie favorite.

Woof woof.... that's my other dog impression.

Sorry all, off topic, but I love that movie too.

I just can't be happy today - The Damned

I just can't be happy today - The Damned

That's a good 'un Robski, like it!

At my funeral I would like to have;

Always look on the bright side of life Monty Pyton

End of the world as we know it REM

If there were going to be a lot of people I didn't like at my cremation I would like to have the full version of 'The End' by The Doors played.

You planning on doing a runner, Bud?

I could think of a few TV members where the music at their funerals wouldn't really matter, just as long as it was something people could dance to. :o

ding dong the witch is dead.....quite funny i think...in fact, a friend of a friend DID have that played at his funeral. i think he (a very camp gay man) would have been looking down laughing his silly head off at that one!

saddest funeral i went to had 'free bird' played. rest in peace dave. your time was up way too soon.

I would have this playing during the cremation.

The Doors..Light my fire.

You know that it would be untrue

You know that I would be a liar

If I was to say to you

Girl, we couldn't get much higher

Come on baby, light my fire

Come on baby, light my fire

Try to set the night on fire

The time to hesitate is through

No time to wallow in the mire

Try now we can only lose

And our love become a funeral pyre

Come on baby, light my fire

Come on baby, light my fire

Try to set the night on fire, yeah

The time to hesitate is through

No time to wallow in the mire

Try now we can only lose

And our love become a funeral pyre

Come on baby, light my fire

Come on baby, light my fire

Try to set the night on fire, yeah

You know that it would be untrue

You know that I would be a liar

Try to set the night on fire

Try to set the night on fire

Try to set the night on fire

I like this one, has a ring to it and a little meaning dont you think.... :o

Born On Your Knees - by Napalm Death

Born on your knees

Life in chains

A slow death

Into your graves

Born on your knees

Born on your knees

Life of pain

Existence restricted

By material gains

Born on your knees

You f***ing as***le

Born on your knees

Conditioned blind

Crawling to death

Revenge for your crime

Born on your knees

Born on your knees

From the womb torn

Live in chains

And die as you were born

Born on your knees

Well, why not funk it up a little?

Higher Ground

People keep on learnin

Soldiers keep on warrin

World keep on turnin

Cause it wont be too long

Powers keep on lyin

While your people keep on dyin

World keep on turnin

Cause it wont be too long

Im so darn glad he let me try it again

Cause my last time on earth I lived a whole world of sin

Im so glad that I know more than I knew then

Gonna keep on tryin

Till I reach the highest ground

Teachers keep on teachin

Preachers keep on preachin

World keep on turnin

Cause it wont be too long

Oh no

Lovers keep on lovin

Believers keep on believin

Sleepers just stop sleepin

Cause it wont be too long

Oh no

Im so glad that he let me try it again

Cause my last time on earth I lived a whole world of sin

Im so glad that I know more than I knew then

Gonna keep on tryin

Till I reach my highest ground...whew!

Till I reach my highest ground

No ones gonna bring me down

Oh no

Till I reach my highest ground

Dont you let nobody bring you down (theyll sho nuff try)

God is gonna show you higher ground

Hes the only friend you have around

Actually I have had a change of heart, I think "What a wonderful world" by Louis Armstrong would be better.

I see trees of green, red roses too

I see them bloom for me and you

And I think to myself what a wonderful world.

I see skies of blue and clouds of white

The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night

And I think to myself what a wonderful world.

The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky

Are also on the faces of people going by

I see friends shaking hands saying how do you do

They're really saying I love you.

I hear babies cry, I watch them grow

They'll learn much more than I'll never know

And I think to myself what a wonderful world

Yes I think to myself what a wonderful world.

Yup, that's always been a favourite of mine, that's the one for me.

Sorry God says no change of heart when dead! :o

If you really fancy a "tear-jerker" and there are times when I do, then you simply cannot beat the "Four Last Songs" by Richard Strauss, IMHO the Jessye Norman version, with Kurt Masur conducting the London Symphony Orchestra.

Other times I'd just settle for Bob Marley's "No Woman, No Cry"

Knowing my luck I'll probably get a week of Thai Karaoke................ :o

I remember starting a thread like this......it was closed.. :o .....oh well! :D

No Surprises - Radiohead

Nessum Dorma as sung by Pavarotti

Danny Boy

Bob Marley

Beethoven's 9th played as loud and can be, I want the cops showing up.

Beethoven's 9th? What? All of it? I'm not coming to your funeral, too <deleted> long!

Okay, then just the fun little Ode To Joy part, just for you, mate!!! :o

I want something composed in the 22nd century played at my funeral.

Wish you were here, Pink Floyd :o

Wish You Were Here (Waters, Gilmour) 5:17

So, so you think you can tell

Heaven from hel_l,

Blue skys from pain.

Can you tell a green field

From a cold steel rail?

A smile from a veil?

Do you think you can tell?

And did they get you to trade

Your heros for ghosts?

Hot ashes for trees?

Hot air for a cool breeze?

Cold comfort for change?

And did you exchange

A walk on part in the war

For a lead role in a cage?

How I wish, how I wish you were here.

We're just two lost souls

Swimming in a fish bowl,

Year after year,

Running over the same old ground.

What have we found?

The same old fears.

Wish you were here.

This I can go along with...

The End (From the Doors) by Nico.

In my morbid moments i have gone for "These are the days'..Queen

However, on reflection, " Cum on feel the noise "......... Slade would be more appropriate

Maybe they could play "Music for Vampires" for your funeral :o

For my funeral, I want "Wild is the Wind" sung by David Bowie AND Nina Simone.

I want this one Portishead - Roads

The whistling and clapping is optional,

but if they could do it live and bring the whole orchestra it would help make up the numbers,

and if the singer Beth Gibbons could just mention how she always loved me whilst breaking down in tears for me,

that would make it worth dying for...

Ok you've got the instuctions, I'm relying on you..
