United Machinery Co in BKK sells riding mowers made in the US. They're not cheap though. Attached is a scan of the 20hp model. The guy quoted me B175K-20%. They also sell a 16.5HP for B150K-20%, and a 13.5HP for B132.5K -20%. I use a 18.5HP and often wish it was bigger when mowing wet or very tall grass. It's great to have and has made a 4 day task into a 3 hour task.

Here's UMC addy:

Also, just down the street from UMC is another shop selling Italian made riding mowers. About the same line-up but more expensive.

Theres a shop on the not so super hi-way.

Where the road from Pai/mae teng joins the superhiway, on the oposite side, theres 2 shops with lots of weed wackers etc outside.

One of the shops is called Montri, It has or can get ride on mowers.

Somtham, I have a microlight runway that's about 15X180 meters and about a 4% slope. Do you think 20hp would get me (75kg) up the hill? The grass is just whatever grew wild after the runway was bulldozed, but we keep it mowed with a 5hp pusher.

On another lawn topic, every time we cut the nice lawn around the house, there are big brown patches that quickly regreen. I have the blade setting as high up as possible - are we waiting too long between cuts or what?

Thanks...

The 4% slope should be no problem. The 18.5hp manual we have says you can mow up to ~17% slope.

No idea on your brown patches. The only time I see brown on our mowed weed lawn is when it doesn't get enough water.

Cloudhopper,

About the brown patches....next time you mow the lawn and see the brown patches look at the remaining stubble and see if the stems seem large and coarse...if so then there are probably patches of a different kind of grass growing in your lawn and this type of grass might not really be suitable for a lawn in that they are too coarse and tall......just a guss on my part....if so then remove them and replant the spots.
