Yes, one reason.

And another reason is the highly defensive style of the other team.

But who in their right mind wants to pay 1000 dollars to see the entire match being played in the neutral zone and no goals scored?

Messi barely touched the ball at all. One of the greatest players ever. Makes no sense.

Most of the US does not like the sport. You might gain a larger market by tweaking the rules a bit. I know the sport is your religion and it sounds sacrilegious , but who says you can't change the rules a bit to make it more exciting?

Basketball has a shot clock. Maybe soccer needs one. 45 seconds with the ball you must shoot on goal or give a penalty.

Instead, maybe people can focus on why the match was so boring and how FIFA can change the rules of the game to prevent such god awful eventless, nothing happens, uninspiring, ball is mostly in the neutral zone Messi barely touches the ball for 90 minutes matches in the future.

Spain hijacked the final with their boring style of play.

An expert solution, from someone for whom Association Football is deeply ingrained in his culture!

Perhaps the reason why the match was so "boring" was because the teams, as the two best teams in a world tournament, were fairly evenly matched?

Talking of experts, I remember long ago in a distant universe where green was the predominant colour, being told that "ex" was a "has been", and spurt was what happened when you put a drip under pressure!

Spain was playing, Argentina were impotent. Argentina has been extremely lucky to get there.

It's not "real" football, which is not even played with the feet at all.

Apart from the field goal kicker.

The most popular game in the world by a long chalk.

Record-Breaking Stadium Attendance

Moving the tournament to massive North American stadiums yielded the highest physical turnouts in football history:

  • Total Spectators: 6,810,966 fans attended matches in person.

  • Stadium Occupancy: Venues operated at an astonishing 99.7% capacity, averaging 65,490 fans per match.

  • Fan Festivals: More than 8.5 million visitors flooded the official FIFA Fan Festivals across the three host nations.

Football, a game that can be played almost anywhere with more than 2 kids.

All you need is a football and some empty ground, jerseys or coats can always substitute as goalposts.

Simple rules which help explain its enduring popularity.

Honestly, and with respect, you’re commenting on something you know nothing about. If you want to learn, try to understand first, instead of just commenting and making yourself look ignorant.

Trump spoils Spain's spotlight as World Cup trophy Awards descends into awkward scenes

Trump Trophy.jpg

Spain's long-awaited World Cup triumph was overshadowed by an extraordinary post-match moment after US President Donald Trump remained on stage during the trophy presentation despite appearing to be encouraged to step aside by FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

The awkward scenes unfolded after Spain edged Argentina 1-0 in a dramatic World Cup final at MetLife Stadium.

Spain crowned world champions

Substitute Ferran Torres scored the only goal of the match in extra time to hand Spain their second World Cup title.

Argentina's hopes suffered a major blow when Enzo Fernández was sent off late in normal time after picking up a second yellow card.

Lionel Messi and his teammates pushed desperately for an equaliser, but Spain's defence held firm to seal a famous victory.

Trump booed by the crowd

Trump attended the final under heavy security, with long delays reported as fans entered the stadium.

The US President was loudly booed by sections of the crowd when he appeared before kick-off and again when he walked onto the pitch for the trophy presentation alongside FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

The reaction continued throughout the post-match ceremony.

Trophy lift overshadowed

After presenting medals and handing the World Cup trophy to Spain captain Rodri, Trump remained on the podium instead of stepping away to allow the players their traditional moment alone.

Television cameras captured an uncomfortable scene as the Spanish squad celebrated with the trophy while Trump stood alongside them.

Reports claimed FIFA President Gianni Infantino appeared to signal for the President to leave the stage, but Trump stayed in place as Spain lifted football's biggest prize.

The unusual moment quickly became one of the most talked-about images of the tournament.

Fans react online

Social media was flooded with criticism from football supporters who argued the trophy ceremony should belong solely to the winning team.

Many accused Trump of turning the players' historic achievement into a political spectacle, while others defended his presence as the host nation's head of state.

The debate rapidly overshadowed discussion of Spain's victory itself.

Spain deserve the headlines

Lost amid the controversy was a superb defensive display from Luis de la Fuente's side.

Torres' extra-time strike proved enough to settle a tense final after Argentina failed to register a shot on target throughout extra time despite a frantic late push.

Spain's disciplined performance earned them a deserved place at the top of world football once again.

But instead of celebrating their achievement, much of the post-match discussion centred on the extraordinary scenes on the podium—where one of football's greatest moments became a story about the man presenting the trophy rather than the team that had won it.

'Mericans discussing how to make the beautiful game less boring to them is laughable of course. This was a sht show presentation by all except the Spanish football team, half time theatrics and trophy award included ruined it for most of the rest of the world. Argentine were playing anti football and FIFA deserved it. Some other organization should control the WC going forward.

You speak of American rugby ? as you know, football ( European ) is played only with foot, that's why it's called " football " , unlike American rugby which plays like European rugby , hands and feet

as for Trump, I am not surprised, he dit the same thing last year for club world cup , stupid and ridiculous man

Spain boring ? do you know European football ? match was boring because Argentina didn't play, only defend ; no shoot in 110 minutes, never seen that in any world cup final

Argentina spark shocking brawl with Spain at World Cup final

AA28hlP7.png

Argentina players sparked a mass brawl with Spain following their 1-0 World Cup final defeat.

Following the full-time whistle in New Jersey on Sunday (19 July), Spanish substitutes ran onto the pitch to join in with their team’s celebrations at the MetLife Stadium.

Argentina defender Nahuel Molina then appeared to throw a punch at Spain’s captain Rodri as he ran past him. Midfielder Leandro Paredes also had altercations with Spain’s Eric Garcia and Gavi.

Lionel Scaloni, head coach of the South American team, then ran onto the field to try to stop the brawl along with other coaching staff.

The Argentina players’ behaviour has been widely condemned, with Alan Shearer calling the display “terrible”, whilst Gary Neville branded the team’s actions a “disgrace”.

There's no such thing as "the neutral zone". You guys can't get your head around a game that doesn't have bigly numbers in it.

The collective booing by the majority of the crowd says all the needs to be said about this toxic creep, and the degree to which he is despised and disrespected around the world.

He attempted to hijack the event but he just ended up making a fool out of himself yet again. These days that seems to happen on almost a daily basis.

The junkyard dog does not possess a nanogram of decency or nobility.

Who says we need to make the most popular sport in the world more attractive to Americans ?

Its been doing fine for at least a hundred years and will carry on for the next hundred without any interference or tweaking of anything from America.

Oh and what the hell is the neutral zone in Football ?

Neutral zone is passing the ball endlessly in the middle of the pitch just to keep possession.

You're leaving out 50 to 150 million potential new spectators. Think about it, at least.
