Prostitution and Male Dominance

7 members on this forum, and you would understand more if you heard what they said, on the phone. I know all about what the trade entails.

You are only partially right.

There is a dark side to prostitution (ranging from relatively harmless to really bad). Which no one in the industry wants to talk about or admit.

But there is also a dark side to families and married life (ranging from relatively harmless to really bad). Which no married person wants to talk about or admit.

Wherever there are human beings, there is a potential dark side manifesting itself.

If you send these girls back to Isaan, they have different problems to deal with. The dark side of the bar scene is replaced with the dark side of family life and economics in Isaan, which brought them to Pattaya in the first place.

There is nowhere to hide.

A few catch a lucky break maybe and meet Prince Charming. Some learn to live with their choice.

Some leave.

Sure, whatever you say, Freddy Bible Bunker, because you’re always the voice of sanity, wisdom, knowledge, and authority.

Well, the Bogan from Brisbane polished up his Grindr profile and should be arriving here any minute to see if he can hook up with one of those 5,000 U.S. servicemen on shore leave.

You should come down here to Soi 6 too. I’ve got a cold one waiting for you. Bob says he even saved you an enthusiastic midget. And they’re playing your song!

I mentioned this before about the domestic violence and all the other problems married couples have, in all the reading I did from the many psychologists and counselors who interviewed the thousands of couples who went to them for help. Every marriage has problems, and some get out of hand. Not staying any longer than necessary is how you survive. Many times it's the women who are the evil ones.

Everyone has a dark side that you do what you can to keep under wraps. Shadow self worded by Carl Jung. Keeping it away is a tool that makes one stronger, self control is how many marriages survive. Letting off steam every now and then in a physical way, exercise a main one, sex another, are ways to keep things from going overboard and maintains intimacy. Putting two people together, a male and a female, from two different upbringings, is one the biggest challenges humans have without creating problems. This is why communication is the most important thing after trust.

Have a threesome with Bob and a hooker. You might have enough fun to counter that false labeling.

But that's not even a luxury for many women in Isaan.

Like women in the West when they weren't in the work force.

Western women have easier access to good jobs and can leave marriages easily.

That's why prostitution is actually empowering for women from poor areas, despite the potential challenges they may encounter in the trade. They don't need to depend on her husband not being abusive and be trapped there if he is.

And since they have seen and experienced both sides of the coin, they know which side of the fence suits them better.

It's merely a way for some to make more money. The problem is many leave their children at home with grandma, as the men are usually long gone by then. It's not a good excuse as they can readily live back home with those children and work locally. Those children grow up without a parent, many times in unsafe conditions, and they'll grow up knowing mom was a hooker, which can have the girls thinking it's a normal thing to do, which is never is.

What besides more money is good for these women? I won't deny they are something a disabled or elderly man can do for occasional comfort, and that if it's made legal with protection for the women, it would be a lot better for them and safer, although the STD's would increase with legalization. It's mostly the man who benefits, as these women don't want to sleep with their clients.I fully understand it will never stop, but they do need better protection.

I think some let this pass because they use the prostitutes, so they're getting what they want, without seeing, nor caring of the downside. Very few will know what happens after they leave. Prostitutes are killed every day, along with thousands harshly treated, up to 90% eventually, so it's never been a good choice nor a safe one. Can a man see his own daughter ending up this way?

A lot of people have much worse jobs than sleeping with someone you don't want to sleep with. Some guys work in construction and end up dying from a crane falling on their heads. As if the job wasn't torture enough.

Once again, they have weighed the alternatives and experienced the alternatives. And you are deluded if you think they don't want to sleep with ANY of their clients ever. And you are deluded if you think all women are puritanical and only want to get married and sleep with one man their entire lives.

But those accidents are few, and there are thousands of hookers sleeping with thousands of men they don't really want to. Every prostitute is taking a chance sleeping with strangers. there are men who target these women, and serial killers especially kill many themselves. Add to that the beatings as they're looked at as objects, and the forced things they have to do because they're paid.

No normal woman wants to sleep with one man after another, even if she's not getting paid.

Think of how these women are perceived, even by the men they are sleeping with.

I've been around 70 years, with a hundred women, along with thousands I've talked with, reading hundreds of books and articles by professional psychologists and counselors. Do you think I haven't learned more than the average man, who never reads but just acts, on what women want, need or feel?

I've been an active listener for decades, learning that as one of the first and best things a man needs to know to understand women. Deluded is something i've never been. I've also been married three times and know as much as anyone how evil a woman can be. Most women have 4-7 partners in their lives. How does that compare to 100-1000 or more? Think no damage isn't done by that?

When you read the studies those people have done, actually talking to all those women, you get the truth and not BS by men who think it's okay. From the horse's mouth. It's easy to look up anything, but most won't because they benefit from it. When you have a girlfriend or are married, you care about your partner. Do you think those who go with many hookers cares? No matter what anyone says, it's a dangerous and many times deadly trade, and doesn't compare to hazardous jobs.

Do you think that's how much they all make? It's more like 30K to 80K, and many make a lot less. Some make more, catering to hi-so's. The only way they escape most of the problems is if they get lucky, start, and end up with a husband very fast that takes them out of it. Most never will.

I'm only in charge of my daughter. How anyone lives their lives is on them. I just know what I would do if anyone in my family was harmed .

This thread reminds me of the philosopher who offered a beautiful woman 100,000 pounds to sleep with him. When she assented, he asked if she would take sixpence. " Certainly not, do you think I am a whore?" The philosopher replied " We have already established that, I am trying to negotiate a price ".

How is it male dominance when women set a price on themselves for sex by the hour, or a wedding ring? They hold all the cards.

IME feminists who lambast so-called male dominance are misanthropes, usually ugly as a hatful of bums.

What? Pick up a shotgun?

So I have a story for you. I had a massage and the girl tells me she can't stand her life anymore. Can you guess why? Was it the work? The customers?

Her father was putting incessant pressure on her to make money and send it back to the village.

What kind of pressure is that for a young girl to have to support her parents?

We never had that kind of pressure growing up. We had time to save for ourselves and most of us had parents who provided support.

Could be they resent women who sell themselves because they are too ugly for any man to ever pay them for sex and have to get a soul-crushing office job.

This is a drama-queen topic. It has been like this for thousands of years... why would you expect it to change anytime soon?

It's the oldest profession in the world, closely followed by smuggling and lying. Prostituation is a survival operation when all else fails, and the girls that do it earn way more than most contemptuous people realise... possibly a hundred thousand a month or more if she's hot and smart manipulating multiple marks.

When women need to surive, they know they have one thing that is valuable... men, however, have to grind, innovate, or be really good at something. Suprised it has to be pointed out.

It's the parents job to support themselves. It's the daughter's job to support herself and any children. There are plenty of families here that also have boys, and if a daughter can help support a parent " in need", then the boys can also. If anyone threatens a man's family, you do whatever you need to eliminate that threat.

Yes, if they need help you help them. if they're pushing a daughter into the trade for their greed, you don't. It's also all siblings responsibility, not just the girls. This is Thailand, so things are one sided as far as gender's responsibilities.

The best one of all, is this one: "I mention All in the Family, and commented that how he acts is how you shouldn't"

There you can clearly read that you appoint yourself as an apostle who tells people want is right and wrong and how they should live.

When are you going to stop Freddy?

I'll post this for you...................Men who buy sex have much in common with sexually coercive men

Findings support decades of research by UCLA professor who co-authored study

Stuart Wolpert

August 31, 2015

“It’s like she’s not really there.”
– Study participant who bought sex

Men who buy sex have less empathy for women in prostitution than men who don’t buy sex, according to a study published online Aug. 31 in the Journal of Interpersonal Violence. The research, co-authored by UCLA professor Neil Malamuth, also found that men who buy sex are more likely to report having committed rape and other aggressive sexual acts.

The study of 101 men in the Boston area who buy sex and 101 men who do not indicates that sex buyers’ perspectives are similar to those of sexually coercive men.

“Our findings indicate that men who buy sex share certain key characteristics with men who are at risk for committing sexual aggression,” said Malamuth, a professor of communications studies and psychology. “Both groups tend to have a preference for impersonal sex, a fear of rejection by women, a history of having committed sexually aggressive acts and a hostile masculine self-identification. Those who buy sex, on average, have less empathy for women in prostitution and view them as intrinsically different from other women.”

In other studies, a lower level of empathy among men has been associated with sexual aggression toward women.

Whether prostitution is a job or sexual abuse has long been debated.  The new findings support the view that prostitution is more like sexual abuse.

“We hope this research will lead to a rejection of the myth that sex buyers are simply sexually frustrated nice guys,” said Melissa Farley, the study’s lead author and executive director of Prostitution Research and Education, a San Francisco-based nonprofit.

Had the study found no differences between the views of men who buy sex and those who don’t, it might have given credence to those who advocate legalizing and regulating prostitution, said Farley, an expert on prostitution and human trafficking.

“However, given the significant levels of sexually aggressive attitudes and behavior found in sex buyers, a more progressive legal policy would be like that seen in Sweden and Norway, where prostitution is understood as a predatory crime against economically and ethnically marginalized women,” she said. “The Nordic model arrests sex buyers but decriminalizes those in prostitution and provides them with exit services.”

One man who bought sex and was interviewed for the study compared the transaction to disposing of a coffee cup after he had finished drinking from it. “When you’re done, you throw it out,” he said.

Another said of women in prostitution, “I think a lot of times they feel degraded. I mean, the ones I know have no self-confidence, so they feel less than a person, and more like a commodity.”

Malamuth said the study confirmed the predictive ability of many of the risk factors for sexual aggression he has studied for the past 35 years. His Confluence Model characterizes men who are at higher risk for committing sexual aggression. It emphasizes several key risk factors, including antisocial behavior, a preference for impersonal sex, treating sex more as a sport than as part of an intimate relationship, and “hostile masculinity,” which includes traits such as a narcissistic personality, hostility toward women and a desire to have power over women.

The men in the study were relatively knowledgeable about coercion and sex trafficking, and about many of the reasons that women entered prostitution.

The researchers screened more than 1,200 men to reach two groups of men who were similar in age, ethnicity and socioeconomic status.  The men were guaranteed anonymity and each was interviewed for about two hours. The study was funded by Hunt Alternatives, a private foundation.

I'm hoping that wasn't a referral about me, as I'm not near ugly, have been with many beautiful women, and maybe understand this a little better than those who promote it and benefit from it, but don't see that dark side like you mentioned. Of course supporters will dismiss the negatives, as they're only interested in themselves

I don't resent any woman that's decent and isn't taking a man and using him...................

People who support prostitution often focus only on personal desire or the idea of personal choice, while ignoring the deeper harms tied to the industry.

When people have a strong interest in keeping prostitution legal or accessible, they may block out the painful realities faced by many sex workers.

Why Supporters Ignore the Negatives

  • Confirmation bias: People search for ideas that prove they are right and ignore facts that show harm.

  • Cognitive dissonance: Admitting that prostitution causes pain creates mental stress for those who pay for or promote it.

  • Focus on convenience: It is easier to think of the act as a simple business transaction than to face the human cost.

  • Denial of power imbalance: Supporters often pretend that everyone in the trade has equal power and freedom.

The Real Negatives They Often Dismiss

  • Human trafficking: Many people in the sex trade are forced, tricked, or trapped against their will.

  • High rates of violence: Physical abuse, rape, and murder happen at high rates to people selling sex.

  • Mental trauma: Many workers suffer from severe depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress.

  • Lack of safe exit: Poverty and a lack of other jobs trap many people in the industry.................................https://www.patrickwanis.com/why-men-see-prostitutes-avoid-relationship/

Seeing I was asked for more evidence , away from the OP's article, I have provided many links, although some will ignore them as they're supporters of this trade and don't care to hear the negatives. there might be a few with an open mind, like the millions of others like myself, that will read them and understand more what the women go through Being in denial has nothing to do with how I think. I'm just one of those millions that actually see this trade for what it is

Excerpts from the following link.................

I want to bring us back to basics. Prostitution: what is it? It is the use of a woman’s body for sex by a man, he pays money, he does what he wants. The minute you move away from what it really is, you move away from prostitution into the world of ideas. You will feel better; you will have a better time; it is more fun; there is plenty to discuss, but you will be discussing ideas, not prostitution. Prostitution is not an idea. It is the mouth, the vagina, the rectum, penetrated usually by a penis, sometimes hands, sometimes objects, by one man and then another and then another and then another and then another. That’s what it is.

I ask you to think about your own bodies–if you can do so outside the world that the pornographers have created in your minds, the flat, dead, floating mouths and vaginas and anuses of women. I ask you to think concretely about your own bodies used that way. How sexy is it? Is it fun? The people who defend prostitution and pornography want you to feel a kinky little thrill every time you think of something being stuck in a woman. I want you to feel the delicate tissues in her body that are being misused. I want you to feel what it feels like when it happens over and over and over and over and over and over and over again: because that is what prostitution is.

And so, many of us are saying that prostitution is intrinsically abusive. Let me be clear. I am talking to you about prostitution per se, without more violence, without extra violence, without a woman being hit, without a woman being pushed. Prostitution in and of itself is an abuse of a woman’s body. Those of us who say this are accused of being simple-minded. But prostitution is very simple. And if you are not simple-minded, you will never understand it. The more complex you manage to be, the further away from the reality you will be–the safer you will be, the happier you will be, the more fun you will have discussing the issue of prostitution.

In prostitution, no woman stays whole. It is impossible to use a human body in the way women’s bodies are used in prostitution and to have a whole human being at the end of it, or in the middle of it, or close to the beginning of it. It’s impossible. And no woman gets whole again later, after. Women who have been abused in prostitution have some choices to make. You have seen very brave women here make some very important choices: to use what they know; to try to communicate to you what they know. But nobody gets whole, because too much is taken away when the invasion is inside you, when the brutality is inside your skin..............................https://rapereliefshelter.bc.ca/prostitution-and-male-supremacy/

Another view, from a former prostitute.................Prostitution is not sex and it’s not work. Its reality is far from complex – in fact, it’s simple. Trust me, I’ve done it

I left home three weeks past my 14th birthday, a few months after my father’s suicide, to escape the abuse of a schizophrenic mother who was in the throes of an ever-escalating mental health crisis. I was homeless by the summer of that year, and street-walking by the year after that. I got out of prostitution at 22, returned to education at 24, and the following year took a place in Dublin City University studying for a BA in Journalism. I wrote a memoir about my seven years in prostitution, which has been published all over the English-speaking world and translated into other languages too. In the intervening years, I’ve received thousands of messages from strangers from across the world, most of them women, and a good sprinkling of men. They vary widely in their content, but there are recurring themes.

So many of these women’s stories stay with me: the 19-year-old French girl who got into prostitution as a direct result of watching a TV series that depicted prostitution as glamorous and empowering; the mid-20s Australian woman who believed – because well-funded NGOs told her to believe – that ‘sex work’ was legitimate employment; or the early 20s German woman who told me that, because pimping had been decriminalised in her country, she’d got the message that what was legally sanctioned surely had to be OK. Just about every man in Germany seemed to have got the same message, and the result was social carnage. The ‘flat rate’ brothels of Germany offered the sex trades equivalent of an All You Can Eat buffet, with men, paying a one-off fee, invited to use the bodies of as many women as possible, for as long as possible, in one day. Many men arrived in groups, often as stag parties. That German woman’s body was used by between 400 and 500 men in her first month. There will never be an end for her from the psychological repercussions of this savagery we’re expected to call ‘work’..

Decent work means dignity, equality, a fair income and safe working conditions. Decent work puts people at the centre of development; gives women, men and youth a voice in what they do; the rights to protect them from exploitation; and a future that is inclusive and sustainable.

The truth for the prostituted woman, though, is that she has not only been sexually abused, but sexually abused too many times to count. The reality of prostitution has been hiding in plain sight for millennia. We all know it, instinctively. That’s why we don’t want our sisters and daughters and mothers in brothels. It’s strange how something we know on a sensory level can elude us intellectually. The reality of prostitution is not complex, it is simple. Controlling what people do sexually is inherently abusive.

Oh, and the oldest profession in the world is midwifery. Prostitution is not any sort of profession, never mind the oldest one...............https://psyche.co/ideas/the-reality-of-prostitution-is-not-complex-it-is-simple

Wasn't my intention but to open the eyes of some who might change their thinking and look more at the woman's side and what they go through. I know how bad some women are and I'm not on their side in any way. It's not easy to change anyone after 30 years old but not impossible. One at a time makes a difference. I'm not judging the women involved, as again, I see them as victims in many ways. Their choices have consequences, especially if they have children.People laugh at this because they either don't care or not understand it.

And a more successful mission was rarely accomplished.

When you have a culture that pays 15,000 baht a month for an unskilled worker, willing to work 50-60 hours a week, and being lorded over by an unsympathetic and often tyrannical boss it lowers the choice of options. And when you consider that someone who spends the time, effort, and fortune to get ahead in life, by getting a four year college degree, and then only earns 3,000 to 5,000 baht a month more, something is very, very broken.

So, let's take it easy with the judgments ok? Some of us were more fortunate in this life, than others. Some have limited options. Some see this work as an opportunity to lift themselves up, from a life of poverty, and help their family in the process. Many are hoping to meet a good guy, who can help them to live a more comfortable and financially stable life. And many were never abused. They chose this trade willingly.

Nothing wrong with any of that, as long as you are not lost in the very dark world of the judgment, fake purity, false puritanism, and condemnation of others.
