Sarasin Bridge to close on Halloween

PHUKET: The Sarasin Bridge will be closed from midnight October 31 to midnight November 1 so that a key scene for a Thai-language feature film can be filmed on location.

The bridge will be closed so that the opening scene of a romantic comedy, given the in-production name Valentine, can be filmed.

The scene will involve a car accident during which lead actor Chakrit Yamnam and leading lady Natthaweeranuch Thongmee, who starred in the popular Thai horror movie Shutter, meet.

Speaking at the Governor meet Press meeting on Monday, film director Napat Pavaputanont explained that she had applied for three days to film the car crash scene on Sarasin Bridge, but had been approved only one day.

During the 24 hours the bridge will be closed, northbound traffic will join the carriageway onto Thepkrasattri Bridge in front of the JW Marriott Phuket & Spa and continue using the same road until the Tha Noon Mosque about three kilometers north of the bridge.

K. Napat, well known for her production of popular dog comedy Ma Mah Si Kha Krub (Mid Road Gang), said that filming will begin at a variety of locations around the island on September 14, including on Soi Bangla, at Wat Phra Thong in Thalang, Bangkok Hospital Phuket and Jungceylon,

Filming on the island is scheduled to wrap up on November 14.

K. Napat invited local people to apply for minor parts woth spoken lines, such as a bodybuilder, a hotel manager, a bartender, a doctor and male nurses.

She added that about 200 extras are needed for crowd scenes filmed at Jungceylon and on Soi Bangla.

To apply, enroll at the office on the 2nd floor of the Phuket Sports and Recreation Center building at Saphan Hin from 10 am to 5 pm today.

Selected actors will be paid 300 baht a day.
