Bedlam Cliquey?

Featured Replies

An ex-TVer made a comment on another forum that Bedlam is a clique. I find this amusing, as we've always welcomed noobs and had a laugh. I guess where we draw the line is personal insults, gross profanity and basic trollmanship.

I know I let my anger escape a few times, although mostly in general, where I was just beat up for saying "farang always pay" if involved in a police-related event. Are we holier than thou (Tiggy can be excluded from this because he is, in the literal sense, holier than we are)? :o I know we could use some fuel injection these days, but maybe we need more laughs or are we all just too intelligent that we bore easily? ie, Totster's Asda/Tesco and the single paper thread are great, but we don't seem to be discussing much anymore.

What's the point in discussing anything anyway.

It's all just hot air for a bunch of bored people.

I don't think it's cliquey - pretty bluddy big clique! - but I do have my personal problems with Bedlam (& it's nothing to do with regular members, but rather something & some (2) people that we're not allowed to discuss) which have made me more interested in seeking my fun elsewhere. Luckily, many (but sadly, not all) of my friends from Bedlam are there too. :o

Bedlam is what you make of it. I've seen it rise and fall and rise again many times. It'll be completely different next year too. Enjoy the ride :o

I suppose it could be described as elitist because it has an entry requirement, 500 posts, and it could be called cliquey because some long term members have become firm friends over a long period of time.

This doesn't mean the clique is unbreachable, coming into Bedlam is not like buying a house in Mayfair and expecting the Duchess next door to drop in with a plate of scones as a welcome to the neighborhood present.

Most people are welcomed, then given a chance to enter into the spirit of things; if they don't get acknowledged it's because people don't know them and are still getting used to them, but eventually, if the persevere they become part of the clique.

Can anybody respond Jet? Or do you have to be part of the clique? :o

As you know I'm only a recent entrant to bedlam but have not found it too bad, just like life, if you are not willing to try and make new friends you may as well get comfortable standing on the side lines.

Frankly, I see Bedlam as the most social and fun part of TV, thats why I come here.

I think most of the bodlam posters welocme new fodder.

Its olny when they make complete asses out of themselves that they are either rejected or reveered by the clique! :o The hefferlump is a prime example. :D

######............. I always wanted to be in a clique.

Thought I'd made it, now Jettie says it's not one.

I am fresh cannon fodder here in the town of bedlam and i have found it a good experiance ,

peeps here have made me feel welcome and even posted my birthday for me , and i think bedlam gives you the chance to grow up ( in a away ) here you have a bit more freedom and responsibilty. i enjoy popping in and reading the topics , and yes if you read the posts you can see that there are a lot of close friends here , but thats to be expected after all to get 1000+ posts means that you have been on tv quite a long time , if bedlam wanted to be elite then the entry level would have simply been raised ,

500 is about right , this entry level weeds out time wasters .and i would like to thank jetty for taking time out to invite me to come over to bedlam, i didnt even know it was here

where we draw the line is personal insults, gross profanity and basic trollmanship.

.

Bladdy spoilsports !

:o

people who cannot spell make the biggest asses out of themselves :D

Oh fart a spellchecker... Just reread my post & see what you are getting at! :o

The again couldn'r be assed. :D I least I didn't felling down. :D

I haven't ever thought of Bedlam as a clique at all. I got a welcome to the forum before I had even arrived. To this day I am not sure if it was a warning to the other residents :o

Jet I am thinking you are referring to one Terry in your original post? If so then the thread there has gone where it deserved - not that I ever visit said other place of course Hmmm Unmm errr right :D.

I spend most of my TV time either in the CM forum or here. I feel comfortable and happy in both, one thing about here though is that it is less restrictive. Not a clique more like a group of friends with whom I feel comfortable. The CM forum is a bit odd in that the members regularly meet outside of the forum so we then to know each other by our actual names not just our screen personas,

Yeah well, I suppose the footy forums a bit of a waste of time for you now. :o

Well, seen as I'm 'felling' much better now ya can all just <deleted> off!!!

Well, there is one thing I will say about Bedlam, no one currently in here sounds like a broken record.

I'd rather be in a clique than a rut any day.

it's clique-ish, apparently.

Uly, shall we form our own clique, buddy?

I think some people just need to get laid, just not with each other.

I think some people just need to get laid, just not with each other.

I didn't realise that's what went on in a clique!?! :o

I `ve never been in a clique before , whats it like?

My definition of a clique, sod the dictionary.

A collection of individuals capable of individual thought, giftted with the ability to express those thoughts in a way that will not cause any personal offence to any other member of the group, but just may cause another member of the group to reanalyse their beliefs whilst still retaining the capacity to question their own beliefs.

Not a closed circle, but certainly a boundary..... the entry price being the ability to say 'hello'
