Hi fellow Bedlamites, I posted a thread entitled 'Are you spiritual?' on the Buddhist forum, and am disapointed at how few replies I have had. Now this is what I'm not sure is kosher, I'd like some opinions from my fellow Bedlamites, post your comments on this thread.

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=142415

ps mods, if this is not allowed, please delete this post.

I did, I did reply. You might get the pontificator on there, Tigs, just so he can refute the idea of spirituality...

I don't understand what you want....do you want us to go to that thread and post or are you wanting to discuss that thread here in Bedlam?

Im not sure if there are ever very many responses to threads in that forum, you have 15 very interesting responses so far which seems to be about par for the board.

The saying is "there are no atheists in a foxhole"

and the only time i talk to god ,is after to many beers ,down the great china telephone in the bathroom

My girlfriend often talks to God when we are having sex :o

ps sorry i couldnt spell athiest atheist

atheist: person who believes God cannot exist

agnostic: person who believes that the existance of God is not provable either way.

Good point CB, many people are agnostic and not atheist.

i think it was Woody Allen who said, "There's dial a prayer, and then there's one for atheists, when you call it there's no one on the other end!" (or something like that) There could be one for agnostics - when they call it's just a really bad line and they're not sure if there's someone on the other end. So they hang up and say, 'well I'm not that bothered!' :o

No suegha

i'm not spiritual ,

but thats just me to much stuff happened in my life but its interesting to read what other's think about your question and i look forward to reading them

I like Spirits (especially Jack Daniels). Does that count as being Spiritual :o

It’s a good question, maybe we could start another thread!

We could have arguments (discussions) about who is’the most spiritual, the Jack Daniels drinker or the single malt drinker, each one calling the other a heretic! And then of course whether or not you add a mixer - "What? you add lemonade? You heathen!" :o

Sorry about lauging at my own thoughts but my mind is now on a 'trip'. I see extremists sending out suicide drinkers, conservative drinkers looking for world domination and influencing world politics, etc...

I think I have seen those suicide drinkers in the bar after rugby matches, they normally come armed with a yard of ale!

The atheist drinkers would walk into the bar and say "this is all a sham there is nothing to drink here so that proves there is no such thing as alcohol"

The agnostics would walk into the bar and say "I am not saying there is alcohol here or not but I am happy to get pissed on whatever is available"

The evangelists would walk into the bar and say "if you aren't drinking the same as me then you will live in a hangover for the rest of eternity"

The Catholics would walk into the bar and say "I feel so guilty about this drinking but what the heck - one more can't hurt"

The Baptists would walk into the bar and say "does this come in dunking size?"

The Jews would walk into the bar and say "this was a nice place when Moses ran it but this new crowd just aren't the same"

The Pagans would walk into the bar and say "give me a pint of mead and a wench to go"

The new spiritualistic movement for the betterment of world peace under an ecumenical collective of drinkers would walk into the bar and say "I'll have a shandy please but hold the beer just add more lemonaide"

The Buddhist would walk into the bar and say "I will have whatever comes and can I pay you next lifetime?"

Ok that should give you a head start

Actually I had to spend very little time at all they just came straight out as is. I also thought of a few more after I did the post but thought they weren't really going to add to the idea.

A stream of consciousness perhaps?

A stream of consciousness perhaps?

Maybe I was channeling?

It is the way my mind works. I can take a starting point and then create a mind map of interconnected ideas in a very short period of time. I often do it in my mind as a visual and then I will decide what action to take.

What I can't do is visualise an image such as a dragon with busty woman draped across its scales and then draw it like a Boris type painting. I have to draft it out on a piece of paper and then get the proportions and dynamic right. Once I have that sorted out I can fill in all the other bits required eg dragon scales and heaving bosoms. I watched Boris create a painting at a SiFi convention in Australia and he just blocks it out very roughly and then just paints it. Every thing he paints he sees in his inner eye and just follows that.

Getting back to the original post - to me art which is NOT my forte is something that is very spiritual. Doing a drawing I feel myself moved to a different plane and oblivious to the distractions of my surroundings - bit like getting really pissed actually but without the hangover.

How interesting. In my 'dim and distant' past I got up to many things that I wouldn't even dream of doing today...

Saying that there are no atheists in a foxhole is an insult to thousends of veterans.

Oddly it's usually said by those claiming to support the troops...

The saying came from the second world war and for those of us including me who have served our country it is appropriate.

Don't get so heavy TAWP. It's a saying which is, I'm sure, applicable to some. And maybe not applicable to others!

A blanket statement cannot be true for some and false for others. It's an oxymoron of terms.

It's like stating that everybody in the world is male.
