This last week i have been unable to connect to P2P networks....i have Soulseek, Ares and WinmX installed and cannot connect on any of them. I run Zone Alarm and Anti virus software..........which i turned off for a moment to eliminate them from the problem......but still cannot connect , any ideas? Cheers.

Try turning off the XP firewall and see what happens (on your T-Net dialing screen, click properties, then advanced and proceed from there). This is a long shot though. I also heard that the zone alarm update has made it incompatable with p2ps. Perhaps uninstall it, and try connecting again. Spygate makes a great free firewall as an alternative to Zone Alarm.

Good luck.

hi'

I also heard that the zone alarm update has made it incompatable with p2ps.

wrong, I have the latest update of ZA (registered), and p2p works fine thanks.

the problem reside in the win firewalls, as it blocks everything unless you give exceptions, progs or ports ...

check this first ...

did you try to change the default port?

default is around 6881 ... change it for higher ..like 25000 or more ...

give news

TT&T and CAT are blocking many ports.

And as you can see when you look at your IP adress it is a private IP not a public one. Mine is for example 172.16.xxx.xxx

The first 2 numbers are everytime the same. And by the way you are sharing your connection with others. And somebody at CAT told me that they have a NAT router whatever this may be.

Your problem has nothing to do with the Win XP Firewall. I completely turned it off but still the same problem. If I turn off my Firewall ( Kerio Personal Firewall ) the problem remains.

So I think the provider is to blame for our problem.

hi'

like I said ..change the default port.

set it to 10000, or else but default, I set it mine to 10000 and change it every now and then, ISP can easil track your usage, and limit the use of such port...

or so it looks like, even if I'm not sure of this, I can say that since I do this, I have no problem with any download.

today, I'm on 10500, tomorrow may be 12200, depends the mood :D
