wrong place to ask but yes you can still do the Ranong crossing although the water is a little scary at this time of year. May I recommend the Andaman Club service. On the hour every hour during the day, large catamarran boat, safe as houses, easy immigration and a relaxing 1 hour stay at the Hotel/Casino whilst they process your passport for 800 bht all inclusive

If you need further details contact me

Wrong forum, but I'd like to remind you that using said Casino supports a regime that is crushing the skulls of buddhist monks as we write this.

Many (Western) governments strongly advice their citizens not to go to Myanmar (Burma), unless it's absolutely necessary. There are plenty of alternatives for a visa run, no need to take the risk!

Yes you are right Nikster, using that island casino probably does benefit those who least deserves......... but then the 10 dollar administration fee you pay to have your passport stamped at Kawtheung, a really grotty and depressing place it has to be said, also goes to those who deserve it the least and if you shop for duty free in the port town, well that goes into the deep pockets of the generals too..

This is not a question of ethics. The guy wants to do his visa run from Ranong and is legally entitled to do so. I was just offering pertinent information to help the guy on his way. As to whether he gambles, well thats his business and only for his conscience to be concerned about.

As for myself, not a gambler which is why I highly recommend the Andaman Club service...... wouldn't want to risk life and soul in one of those tiny little boats on the heavy seas right now, definately safer on the catamaran and of course, there is quality duty free to be had as well

At the current time i really believe that it is a question of ethics to not go there.

(Unless he carry a gun to wipe out a few of this faschist pigs in uniform while waiting for the visa)

A question for your ethics maybe ............. but I guess you dont use the Ranong route to renew your visa.

Pray tell me would it have raised your ire or bothered your ethics if he had went last month before the protests started or indeed any time within the last 10 years. After all, all monies received thenand now still went to the same fascist pigs in uniform that you dislike so much

Needs arise as the devil drives sometimes. Hardly means we are in bed with the fellows
