Searching For A "phuket" Of Philipines

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

Have contemplated moving with a family to Phuket. Despite the fact that we love Thailand /people, atmosphere, weather, western ammenities, local food, safety etc/ Final move did not workout for several reasons:

- uncertain visa situation /am over 40 so can not get retiree visa yet/

- higher than expected cost of real estate

- prohibitive cost of int'l school /have 3 kids/

So back to the drawing board - Being focued on th SEAsia region - Phillipines came to my mind as a place in the same region but with english widely spoken /assume schooling will be less expensive/, with less visa hustle /can be renewed every 2 mnth or so/ and hear that houses are much less expensive than in Thailand /?/

Is there a place in the Phillipines that would be sort of equivalent to Phuket?????? Ie, safe, nice beaches, good schools, good quality houses, hospitals etc Or am I searching in a wrong Place

Certainly not looking to move to a city like Manila or Cebu.

Take a look at Olongapo, a lot of great changes in the past few years.
