Another thread suggests a work permit wp is needed to send money out of Thailand to an overseas bank. This makes sense as one needs a wp to earn money here in a job. But what if the money was wired in from offshore for spending purposes as a tourist or even larger amounts wired in to buy into a condo? Does one need a wp for that? How easy would it be to wire that money back out? What if the resell of a condo resulted in a profit and the balance was much higher than wired originally? (Apologies if this has been asked b4)

As far as I know there is no legal requirement for a WP in order to send funds abroad. I have done it from my Kasikorn, Bangkok Bank and Citibank accounts.

That said, it would not surprise me at all if certain banks do have their own policy of requiring a WP, and it would surprise me even less if certain staff at any bank said that this was a requirement even if it is not (in order to do less work or have less hassle and/or because they just don't know).
