Noe that is interesting! I'm sure I have heard of one in the UK with a similar life. I wonder how that happens?

I think the way that things were made in a process that was far less exacting than they are today led to the odd unit coming out very robust, add the fact that this thing was in a spot where it was always on and not being turned on and off regularly must have helped.

Heck....I had a light bulb once that lasted 40 years and was NEVER turned off.....of course it was never turned on either!!!!

It may be worth 20 quid to buy but a very large percentage of that is tax. The ingredients to make beer/ale are quite cheap and the amount that would then become actual part of the body almost miniscule.

There was a Discovery Channel program on TV several years ago that was made in the UK that discussed this in a lot of detail. Very interesting and showed a pile of the ingredients that would be needed to make one human being. THen it was add water and wait for the spark of life to happen. The biochemist who presented the program did it very well. The film had him going to a pharmaceutical supply store and asking for "x milligrams of sulphur, y milligrams of potasium etc" I kept waiting for him to do the theme song from "milton the monster" - "6 drops of essence of terror, five drops of sinister sauce, now just a touch of tenderness <bump> oops too much"
