Marry

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, hope u r all good,

In a month I am marrying my thai G/F, currently she is staying with me in England on a fiancee visa, her visa ends in December so we have to get married before that. After we have married we will need to apply for a marriage visa, my question is after we have married I know we have to make an appointment at one of the embassy's either in Liverpool, Glasgow or birmingham. It normally takes 3-13 weeks for the forms to be processed if sent away but due to time of my marriage I am going to have go in person with my g.f to one of the above embassy's, all I want to know is what happens when we go to get our marriage visa, does she have to go through the ordeal of another interview?

Thanks people.

If you wish to attend a Home Office public enquiry office in person, (it's not an embassy) then after your marriage go to the one nearest where you live. The ones in Liverpool, Birmingham and Glasgow are appointment only. There is also one in Croydon but if you go there be prepared to wait all day. For an application made in person the cost is £250.00 and by post it's £155.00.

You will need to complete the required form which you can download from here and present this along with your wife's passport, your passport, the marriage certificate, evidence that you rent/own/are buying your house, your last 3/4 months' pay slips and your last 3/4 months' bank statements. This should suffice and there shouldn't be a need for a protracted interview.

Best of luck,

Scouse.
