Northwest Or United

Featured Replies

I'm forced to fly a US carrier only (my company requires it). I've been flying United to Bangkok the past year for a few flights. Racked up the miles, but I am very unhappy with their service and their amenities are lacking (no personal TV's in seatback's, small seats..etc.) I'm thinking of trying Northwest on their BKK - NRT - JFK -NRT - BKK flight in Business class, but I don't know if it will be any better than United's busines class. Can anyone offer any advice from personal experience?

Northwest's new business class, which is being gradually rolled out fleet-wide, is a great improvement over its old one (in my opinion). I think the the NRT-JFK flights are mostly using it these days.

But if I were required to fly a US carrier, and my company was paying for business class, I'd take the Continental non-stop from Newark to Narita, then continue on their codeshare with NW to Bangkok. Continental flies 777's from EWR to NRT, and their BusinessFirst (the aircraft is only two classes) is head and shoulders above what NW and UA offer in their business class.

UAL- is the best. Course I have racked so many miles up- upgrades easily obtained. I've never had a problem with UAL unless its been dc to sfo - usually flight staff are Asian at SFO and from that point on the difference is noticable.
