New Year In Bangkok

Featured Replies

I am getting married for my sins and have booked a honey moon in Bangkok / Phuket to recover from the big day!

We are still looking for a hotel to stay in for three days from the 31st December in Bangkok.

Can any one suggest anywhere?

We would like to celebrate the new year, is anything planned in Bangkok that we should try and see.

Any good suggestions?

Thanks x

First of all, congratulations! :o

And glad to hear you both have chosen Thailand for your honey moon. Welcome to Thailand. And welcome to ThaiVisa. :D

As I live in Bangkok. So, hotels information might be limited. Personally, I like Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit. Easy to get around. Helpful and polite staff. Nice room and everything. Just... don't go to Riva's which located at the basement. :D

New year... I went to count down at WTC a few times (I never learned :D ). Quite a nightmare. Thousand and thousand of people. Three years back, I got a cab home at 4:30am while I had stopped partying about 2am. Last year was much better as the Skytrain was working OT.

Congratulations!

Last time I was in Bangkok was over the New Year with my wife and 18-yr old son. My wife and I celebrated with her family, but my son was escorted to the World Trade Center area and later to the Siam Center area by two of his female cousins.

I trusted them with him (I think -- at least nobody has cracked to this day), and he had a glorious time. He ended up leading the singing at some farang bar and was ecstatic about the experience.

That seems to be the big place, but as LC said, it is crowded. Times Square of BKK.

Good luck and have a great life together!

Of course you could always shuffle off to Pattaya for the Alcazar show. My wife's family had tried to book us for this on New Year's eve, but we changed our plans. I have heard it is a memorable experience.
