Anyone have any experience in dealing with student visas to the USA and submitting an Affidavit of Financial support to a non family member? My GF graduates this May from university and she would like to study in the USA for 6 months. We have an overseas ed agency here in BKK that has located the school for the 1-20. Her family does not have the financial means to finance her studies abroad but I certainly do. If I submit the affidavit for her is her application doomed? I have been lead to believe that in dealing with the US embassy it will be. But when I research this issue I pull up these affidavits written on College and University letterheads indicating that these docs are being submitted for international students who have non-family member sponsors. Makes sense. Not all families have the money to finance this education yet there is a sponsor who is willing and able to. Any thoughts?
