kennkate Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 Hi I am sure this as been brought up before but cant find it, anyway its probably out of date if it was posted last week I Have my Thia girl here on marrage visa. We have not marry yet cos I realy dont know wether to come back and settle in Thialand Problem is she has 2 kids from her marrage to a Thia as been divorced 8 years her son is 18 in Jan and I have just been told by the home office here that visa aplications for the kids have to be made in Bangkok would thay have to have mothers marrage cert with them ? and what is this going to cost ? and how long would thay be able to stay in the UK ? I know that after marrage my WIFE as to apply for LTR and that if granted lasts for 2 years would that apply to kids visa ? and do we have to get LTR before the kids can apply ? Its going to be a rush if we have to do it before Son 18 on Jan 30th
the scouser Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 In terms of a settlement visa, the son has to apply before he is 18. The cost of his visa application will be £500.00 and he would be given permission to stay in line with your wife. However, there are other issues to be addressed, such as who has had sole responsibility for the son's upbringing and who takes care of him now? Does he go to school/college and, if so, who pays? Alternatively, is he in employment and with whom does he live? Scouse.

My lady has been in the UK 2 months her son and 11 year old daughter are being cared for by my ladys mother the son finishes school very soon he is not working would that £500 be payable for each ie cost to bring the 2 of them £1000 ? is that payable to the embassy in Bangkok at time of aplication and woul thay have to have X ray certs ?
the scouser Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 The cost for two settlement visa applications would be £1000.00 and, yes, they would require TB tests at a cost of £2600 baht each. Scouse.

Mahout Angrit Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 would thay have to have mothers marrage cert with them ? and what is this going to cost ? and how long would thay be able to stay in the UK ? Its going to be a rush if we have to do it before Son 18 on Jan 30th It would be more straightforward (but not necessary) and I think carry more weight, if your wife could prove she is settled in UK (that is married with extended LTR) when they apply as the 17 year will be challenged extensively anyway but as you say there is not much time as he loses his right to join family at 18 and I suspect he finishes school at end of term in February. Not wishing to be pedantic (but i will anyway!) the fee for a settlement visa is currently B36,000 which at todays rate works out at nearly £560 each. As Scouse says, if granted, the period of stay will be synchronised with their mother, also as Scouse pointed out it's not so easy to get approval as the child gets to 18 but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try however visa fees are not refunded if unsuccessful.
