Dual Dvd Drive Conflict Possible ? Sata Vs Ide

Featured Replies

Another question related to DVD Thread I have describing problem burning...

An investigation (thanks to suggestion by Reimar) to update ASUS DVD Firmware, led to me discovering that my Main DVD Burner is a SATA drive, while the other DVD-Rom is IDE... can this be conflicting in my computer?? Will this cause problems.. especially related to Burning or identifying Blank Discs?

My 2 drives are :

Asus DRW-1814BLT 18x LightScribe Writer

ASUS DVD-E818A 18X QUIET TRACK DVD ROM

Any Clarity would be helpful.

Thanks,

CS

There is no conflict since they use different channels. I have a couple of computers with nearly the same setup, one ASUS Lightscribe SATA and one LG IDE and there are no problems. Just finished copying a DVD from one to the other just now with Nero Burning ROM. The only issue would be if the IDE version is sharing an IDE port with a hard drive in which case you need to be sure one is set to Master and one to Slave (HDD & IDE DVD Reader). If the IDE DVD is the only one on the IDE port it needs to be set to master.

I just send the link for the software which you can use for to test the function of the drives! Look at your PM!
