Just a quick reminder to those of us who resorted to using the TRUE proxy setting in our browsers last week that it has to be removed to connect modem/router.

You don't actually have to remove it. For example in IE, you set it to not use the proxy for local addresses, and set the local addresses to whatever IPs you use in your house (usually 192.168.x.x).
