Hi all,

I have read that if you are a resident of Thailand you can process your K1 there at a much reduced time.

Can anyone tell what the requirement actually is? Meaning how long do you have to haved lived there to be able to file there?

Thanks for any info

I'm not sure you can file the K1 in Bangkok, but as I know you can file I-130, it is probably possible. For the I-130 they seem to want you to have lived in Thailand for a year. They expect you to be able to prove that with visa extensions, work permit, lease, etc.

The one direct experience I know of they looked at this 2 one year extensions and work permits and it was ok.

You can't. The K1 visa is a non-immigrant visa for a fiance. You can only file the 129f (for K1 visa) in the US.

You can file the I130 in BKK, but that is for an immigrant visa, and only for spouse.

It would be nice, but no such luck. sorry

Thanks for the answers. I thought it was possible & maybe it was a 130?

I thought I read somewhere the DHS had a office there I folks could do it.

All that aside the year timeframe would cancel the benefit.

Thank You
