I'm applying for a visa for my thai girlfriends mother to come visit us in the UK next year and I'm not sure what sort of visa I need to apply for of the form VAF1, I assume Family visit.

I asked the same question a month or 2 back and was told just apply for a "visitor" visa not a "family visitor" but now thev'e introduced a new form a standard "visitor" visa is no longer a choice.

Well its obviously a family visit its her mother.

If refused, a family visit application carries the right of appeal, which a "normal" visit visa application doesn't.
