Hi. I forgot the start up CDs for my Acer Aspire 1414 WLMI home in Europe. I f... it up the other day, and now I cant open it. Does anyone know if I can borrow a cd from another Acer model? may somebody can borrow me one? I will not return to Europe before April, and dont realy want to by a new one just for a few months use. (Krabi area).

What are you saying by, "can't open it?" That makes no sense whatsoever. The fact that you're from Europe and won't return for a gazillion years does absolutely nothing to help us solve your issue. Give us some real info and someone in here can probably help you. If you have no idea what is required, then I suggest reading my excellent (pinned) thread, "Ask Questions The Smart Way""

Normal the Acer laptops having an "hidden Partition" with the whole software which was coming with the Laptop. Check your Manual for the Access!

Usually Alt + F10 at POST for Acers, but you might need to 'Enable recovery boot partition' (or something like that) in the BIOS first.

OK. I can open the cover,(the upper half)! I will try to write the problem in comprehensible computer "language", even though this or English is not my common language, when I get back next week.

I have an Acer travelmate which I bought in August and last month I had so many worms/virus etc that it died. I put a cover version of windows to get it started and then found the real one inside under C: i386. I reloaded that and eventaully it camde back to life but I lost all the Acer drivers etc.

I went to www.acer.co.th which is the official website and downlosded some then rang the Acer help desk in BAngkok and after explaining my problems they sent me some new backup CD and now thw laptop works and I am more than happy with Acer.

Try them. :o
