I am sorry to report that Dan Fogelberg lost his battle with prostrate cancer yesterday: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/17/arts/mus...erg.html?ref=us

For many young people, his music was "out of fashion." But for me, I will miss his great talent as a song writer, musician, and singer.

So long Dan.......and thank you for showing us how to live our lives with dignity and courage.

Is that a type of cancer caused by lying down? Dan must consider himself very unlucky to contract such a rare form of this terrible disease. :o

Reading a report yesterday about how the UK is cutting back Prostate cancer treatment with a system called HiFy or something similar …apparently this is a almost 100% success rate…and what’s frightening is apparently over 50% of over 50’s are prone to this Cancer..scary :o

You're forgiven, JR, but you know it's an easy mistake to make, and an easy mistake to crucify. I seem to recall H. Rap Brown (an American Black leader) protesting that the authorities wanted their women in the prone or supine position. Anyway, he meant lying on their backs and got it reversed, so Brown was accused of commenting on kinky sex.

Of course, all forms of cancer are not a joking matter.

Sorry to hear about Fogelberg's death. His two big hits (Leader of the Band, about his father; and Same Old Auld Lang's Ayne, about bumping into his old girlfriend in the supermarket) are favorites of mine. One of the Fogelberg children ran to Canada, perhaps as a draft resister; his girlfriend now had "an architect that keeps me warm and dry" but she doesn't love him, etc.

So sorry to hear this. 'Leader of the Band' is absolutely one of my favorite songs.

Thanks Jr, for letting us know.

Always felt a special kinship with him because i used to see him in the coffeeshops in Champaign-Urbana (University of Illinois) before he moved to Calif. and made the bigtime. Even back then he was head and shoulders above the rest of us wannabe folkies -- he was incredibly skilled on acoustic guitar which I don't think ever really came out on his albums.

Didn't like "Longer" -- thought it was a bit saccharine and over-produced -- but really admired and enjoyed a lot of his earlier stuff.

RIP Dan and condolences to the family...
