Awk Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Can anybody recommend a mini-bus/tour-company that can be used to drive 12-15 people from chiang mai to chiang rai, spend a night, and then come back the next day? Any other ideas for how to make such a trip, appart from using the regular busses, with all the other riff-raff? ;-)

kash Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 normal rate is 2500 for a lotto, two days would be approx 4k
cmsally Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Don't forget you can't fit 12-15 people in 1 minibus Also very difficult to book over New year especially 28 Dec - 2 Jan

earlofwindermere Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 I usually pay 1900 baht per day for a van with driver. (www.patterntour.com). The drivers usually don't speak much English but they seem to be a decent company.

And I would add Wandering Star Tours run by Frank Shettlesworth (formerly of Air Canada) in Rachamanka Rd just a few doors west of Munkala, the smart Chinese medical centre. (ie a bit closer to the mountain and further away from Thapae Gate). Rode in a nearly new minibus on a similar northern tour 6 months back, excellent driver but no English. Was a guest so don't know the cost, just that a guide/interpreter is available at extra cost if required.

For more information how to make such a trip, please contact Miss Judy E-mail: [email protected]
Gladiator Posted December 24, 2007 Posted December 24, 2007 Wandering Star Tour quote the following for a 'Transporter' capable of taking 11 Passengers: For a 2 day trip from Chiang Mai to Chaing Rai with pre-agreed route 5200 Baht including fuel. The only other cost would be minimal - a guest house room for the driver to overnight or: On a daily basis 1900 Baht, fuel not included - but route as you wish on the day
