Visa For Thai To Vietnam

Featured Replies

Looking at the Vietnam visa requirements it appears that Thais do not need a visa for a stay of less than 30 days. But does that mean that they can just show up at the Viet border and go in? I want to take my gf to Viet for a visa renewal. For me I will need to get a Viet visa. Probably use an agent to process in Bkk. But what about her?

for thai passports visa on arrival

She just has to show up, no payment required. You indeed will need a visa, you could go to the Vietnamese embassy in Bangkok, as it's close ot Ploenchit BTS. (left side of Thanon Wittayu, about 5-10 minutes walk.)

I could have started a new thread, but there are always the same topics anyway, so why not ask here regarding taking a Thai friend to LAOS (Vientiane):

1) Is a passport needed for Thais to travel for 3 days to Laos?

2) How much is the overstay fine per day in Laos?

3) Do Thais need to fill out a Thailand Arrival/Departure Card for leaving, or re-entering Thailand? (I can remember that they get a stamp in their passport, but as for the card?)

1) I only know that a Thai can travel to Burma in a day with a temporary pass, your ID card and no passport. Not sure about Laos.

3) Yes. Absolutely. Fill in when you leave Thailand. When you come back, they'll take back the card.

Please don't go on my advice but I seem to remember that Thais could go into Laos for a limited time and also limited in how far they could go, per Vientianne. However, something is nagging me that says it was only thais fom provinces which border Laos or are nearby.

Sorry I can't be more accurate but I seem to remember my girlfriend at the time I enquired would need a passport and she was from Phetchburi.

I think you are talking about Thais that enter the border using day passes, they indeed can only stay for a limited time. But a Thai with a proper passport will get get 30 days visa free, it's the same the other way around, Lao citizens get 30 days stamps each and every time they enter Thailand.

Cheers, mate(s).
