I believe Steve is not a native english speaker so perhaps cut him a bit of slack for not expressing himself as clearly as possible?

Lomprayah runs from Mae Nam usually but during the big wave season last month it switched to Bang Rak as per usual. Now that the big waves are (hopefully) over, it has returned to running from Mae Nam.

Important info to those of us who like to use the Lomprayah to go to Samui for a day and then return. It helps if you know which pier to tell the taxi driver to go to. :o

Thanks Steve - I wish I had read your warning post before tonight, as the wife and I went all the way to Bangrak this evening before finding out that Lomprayah had shifted again. By the time we found out, we only had one other choice left for our return to KPG.

Lomprayah has to be one of the most unprofessional outfits anywhere:

Poorly-maintained "courtesy" buses that can only pick up passengers two hours before departure (leaving them stranded on Maenam beach for an hour and a half), and that is if you are lucky enough to be picked up as arranged in the first place;

Diesel fume leaks to augment that loud Thai-style heavy rock "background" cabin atmosphere;

Constant and regular fare increases for services where they have no competition (7am & 5pm).

Makes the old Haad Rin Queen look like a dream boat by comparison. :o

BTW, Seatran has been running a special price promotion - 12 trips to Samui for 1500 Baht (125 Baht each vs 250 Baht for Lomprayah).

I agree with you. This boat leaves always at time and it's cheaper ..but it goes to Haad Rin :D

Happy new year in advance to all :D and take care on the road :o

I'd rather leave from Bang Rak due to high waves than Mae Nam and get wet.

Agreed SBK, but not after driving to Maenam first to find out they have changed to Bangrak yet again.....and missing the boat.... :o

You right with Songserm, they just the cheapest :D , that's all. But I think, Seatran is by far the best choice. If you take the Chumpon/BKK boat you can make the experience. They run the same time (Lomprayah and Seatran) Lomprayah from Meanam to Thongsala via Ko Tao to a pier outside of Chumporn. Same with Seatran, just they starting at the Big Buddha pier (I guess that's Bang Rak), which is more convinient if you arrive with the Bangkok Airways. The pier is next to the Hadrin Queen Pier, Big Buddha.

On Seatran you can walk around, there is a deck and they have cool seats. It is a japanese boat. .....I don't work for them :o

Hi Stevethongsala, happy new year to you too and a lot of hints on your website :o

please tell us the mistakes on the schedule, if there are any and which ones ;) not just try to get hints on your website, btw (=by the way), cool and nice website. You seems to be french guy, n'est ce pas? :D and if the schedule on your website is another one, does not mean that your one is right. And if the boat leaving the pier, it does not mean that it is on schedule time. Raja Ferry is late very often. But there were no times for the Raja-Ferry too in my postings :D

Yes, Steve, as far as I can see the half-price promotion is still available at the main Seatran office on the pier at Thongsala.

All the best for a Safe & Healthy 2008 to all.

here a link to the Lomprayah Website... click here:

...everything else might very much be in the eye of the beholder... everyone has his/her preferences...

I think Lomprayah as well as Seatran have improved the transportation Services from and to Samui a great deal - any body remembers the Songserm Banana-Boats - when on a bit rough seas.... :o I know of at least one sunken one....

And as far as Information is concerned where the ships arriving/leaving is a phone call away...

please tell us the mistakes on the schedule

In fact, the Songserm leaves from Nathon at 11.00 a.m. and the timetable of 5.00 p.m. is ready now.

From Thong Sala, the schedule at 7.00 a.m. is ready also :o

Bye Ham
