Crime Drug Duo Nabbed in Rayong Bust: Ice & Meth Seized

Authorities in Pluak Daeng District have arrested two drug dealers, seizing a large quantity of methamphetamine and crystal methamphetamine (ice) worth millions of baht in a coordinated raid. District Chief Mr Sakon Karakot, together with Pol Col Navin Sinthurat, Superintendent of Pluak Daeng Police Station and Pol Lt Col Worawut Nitiyawan, Deputy Superintendent of Investigations, led the joint operation alongside local administrative officers, territorial defence volunteers, and investigative police. The suspects, identified only as “Yoh” and “Pae”, were well-known figures in the local narcotics scene. Their arrest follows a crackdown under the Ministry of Interior’s “No Drugs, No Dealers” policy and the ongoing initiative, aimed at rooting out drug users and dealers across the sub-districts of Map Yang Phon and Pluak Daeng. Acting on intelligence reports, the task force first raided a house in Map Yang Phon, arresting Yoh with 216 methamphetamine pills in his possession. A follow-up search led them to Pae’s nearby residence, where officers discovered an additional 3,655 pills and nearly 600 grams of crystal meth hidden inside the property and a car. Both men confessed to distributing the drugs among local youths and industrial workers. According to investigators, the street value of the seized drugs would amount to several million baht once distributed. Yoh and Pae reportedly started as low-level couriers before rising through the ranks to become high-level dealers. They had been on a police watchlist for some time before their arrest in this sting operation. The successful bust underscores the ongoing commitment of local authorities to dismantling drug networks in Rayong Province and ensuring safer communities. Wat Prachumrat, nestled in Lam Luk Ka district, was eerily deserted this Friday morning. Only local vendors and curious onlookers roamed the grounds, seeking any sign of the ex-abbot, Phra Khru Pairojdhammakhun. The former spiritual leader stands accused of misappropriating an estimated 28 million baht of funds earmarked for the revered temple. Moo 11 Assistant Village Headman, Kawee Thaisamak, was summoned by community members to investigate the temple after whispers of the abbot's nighttime departure circulated. Residents were keen to confirm suspicions that Phra Khru Pairojdhammakhun had indeed fled under cover of darkness. Monks residing at the temple corroborated the tale of his quiet departure. They revealed that the former abbot left early in the morning, informing only his personal driver. The driver stated he was tasked simply with retrieving the abbot’s personal belongings from home. The temple now stands bereft of both its leader and his possessions. Head of the Lam Luk Ka clergy, Phra Khru Sophonpataravet, has demanded a more rigorous investigation be launched. The scandal deepened when it was uncovered that Phra Khru Pairojdhammakhun had earlier been dismissed from his role for breaching ethical standards, reported the Bangkok Post. An initial inquiry showed that the temple failed to account for 28 million baht collected over 28 years from land rentals. The funds, allegedly allocated for utilities and renovations, were undocumented, leaving the abbot unable to furnish any supporting financial records. His explanations failed to convince both the faithful and investigators. He remains untraceable, and with mounting evidence against him, the spectre of criminal charges looms large. The district's clergy head considers it unlikely that Phra Khru Pairojdhammakhun will return. The mystery surrounding the vanished abbot and the missing millions continues to grip the local community and beyond.
