April Bookings

Featured Replies

Hello,

Heading down to Phuket around mid-April. Would you suggest booking ahead or would it be better to just rock on up and see if I can get a better walk-in rate? I'm looking for something with hot water, air-con not a must, around the 1,500-2,000 per night range.

Many thanks

Best thing to do is book ahead with a small deposit. If it turns out you do not like the room or hotel then look around for one that suits you and your price. Walking's get the best rates and rooms. Asked to see your room first. :o April you will be able to get a good price.

Make sure that breakfast is included in the price, but only after they give you a price first. Get a room that is not on the ground floor then you will not have a proplem with moskitos, the higher the better. Have a nice one. :D

april should pose no problems at all

How is it during Songkhran?

Can imagine Soi Bangla being pretty wet...

Songkran April 12-15 is usually a bit hectic with lots of drivers flying courtesy of alcohol vapours............

I am heading Thailand.....lol........ for Songkran

I forgot last year and headed off to Cambodia, dum me..

Hi,

The Songkran week tends to be busy in Phuket especially with domestic tourist as it is a busy time to travel within Thailand and many people working in Thailand get many days off. So that week does tend to get booked.

...not to mention that most (if not all) hotels now charge Songkran at premium high season rates.

For the sort of money you are looking at, one suggestion is:

It was once a premium hotel but is now past its prime - but it is still very good and excellent value for money. Large modern rooms and be sure to ask for one with a balcony. Best rooms are 201 and 301 (same price as the others, but bigger balcony and overlook the pool). I haven't stayed there for many years (I rent now), but it was always a gem. Just make sure that if you are likely to have any company while you are there, you book it for two persons up front (otherwise they will charge you a joiner fee). You are unlikely to have problems getting a room, but if you do go during Songkran, it is probably better to book up front.

Lucky you more like! I've experienced it once and am not looking forward to it again. Once is definitely more than enough.

Agreed Hans - I avoid Songkran like the plague.

If it lasted a day and half it'd be great. It gets seriously tiring after 3 days of being completely drenched.
