hi all

happy new year to you all, i am relocating to thailand (hua hin) have to get new computer, was wondering if better to buy here in the uk, or wait till i get there, have heard about dodgy vista in new machines, as i am not a high tech person have to rely on what the salespeople tell me, hope someone can help.

Happy New Year! If you're planning to stay a while, getting a laptop from a reputable dealer here could save you headaches. As far as I know, it may cost a little more to get them here than in the UK, but the price is only a marginal difference. Local warranty is usually 2 years while international warranty is 1.

I have a Toshiba and a Sony Vaio, both have needed to be fixed... and it was nice to know there was someone to go to.

thanks for that, that was the 2 of the makes i was thinking about, i have a dell desktop had very little trouble with it, but will now wait till in thailand to but april or may if someone buys my house here, camy wait to get to my house in hua hin

Computers seem more expensive here. Import taxes, I'm guessing. Compare prices, but Thailand is not that cheap.

Thant being said, I saw new Acer laptops cheap at the Acer depot on Rama 3 a few weeks ago.

I bought my current Acer at Carrefour in Singapore, and got the tax back when I left the country. :o
