I agree 100% and have done what you suggested mate. Unbelievable.

It's the best result for the forum, but noted you could not answer a couple of simple questions.

So, anyone you don't agree with, you don't read their posts, personally attack them, then ignore them.  Says more about you than me.

Great youtube video.  See covers EVERYTHING that has been discussed in regards to the taxing of pensions as a resident and non resident.

She also mentions the proposed changes.  The video is only 1 month old.  She has near 27,000 subscribers and this video has 11,000 views.

I suggest members watch it.  It's only 9 minutes long.  Some interesting comments as well.

Thanks but where is the video Ozz?

It's on the Australia in Thailand Facebook pagehttps://www.facebook.com/share/v/1A6BMu2TML/

Only one problem for me, I got banned many years ago for having 2 fb accounts with the same name. How that happened I have no idea. Fb say they cannot fix the problem, have to stay in 'banned' status.

I get the OAP transferred to K Bank every 4 weeks. So it does seem it would be of interest to me. If any member has a summary of the contents would you please share. Thanks, appreciated.

Nothing new there, however it doesn't address the current shxt fight going on here about the tax office taxing pensioners living o/seas which has nothing to do with Services Aust / centrelink.

But it will be interesting to watch more nonsense being added to the current crap being posted everyday.

I watched the video.

He only says how his department, Services Australia, will treat your pension.

He doesn't say how how the ATO will treat your pension.

If you missed it, check out this short video.  She explains it very well.

Interesting move.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Department_of_Finance_(Australia)

"The Department of Finance is a department of the Government of Australia that is charged with the responsibility of assisting the government across a wide range of policy areas to ensure its outcomes are met, particularly with regard to expenditure, financial management, and the operations of government."

I wonder what they are gearing up for?

It usually means a move to savings, or a cut to services, or a considerable restructure is on the way.  Take your pick, but it's usually not good for the people.

What's the positive you see in it?  Robo Debt is long over.

Long over thanks to ALP, it was a NLP thing, the,re also long over. The cuts to gov services were Morrisons(who)? .. he, s long over too. Try calling Mygov KH, its still a'merrygoround' deadend battle with beaurocracy. Maybe this shakeup  to Centrelink Mygov by Finance restructure will get it right! Them s the.positives KH!

Albo has been in power for years.  He's in his second term.  Morrison and Robodebt is in the past.

The question is, why is Albo doing this now?  Could it be for a "slash and burn?"

Do you really think call waiting times will decrease?  It's the same call center.

The department of finance usually looks for savings, so, as I said, such savings come from handing out less money, or cutting of services, or restructuring and making some staff / positions redundant.

You are popping champagne corks, but I really can't see why.  It's certainly nothing to do with Morrison or Robodebt.

The Royal Commission into Robodebt handed down its report in July 2023.  It's old news.

https://robodebt.royalcommission.gov.au

So, Olmate, you put it forward, so what tangible "positives" do you see for Centerlink recipients with this department move?

The PM has already stated that there will be no changes to current taxation policies which had not been included in the election policies.

Not much of a Roundtable when the government is going in with a pre-ordained agenda for the outcome, not so much consultation, but government telling everyone what will happen. Not a consultation

It's all about getting elected for a third term.  In order to do that, "the books" have to look good.  For the books to look good, taxes have to keep the money rolling in.  They will need either new taxes, or higher taxes, or a combination of both.

I posted a link showing one idea that will be on the table, the raising of the GST, yet, you think, under Albo, no one will ever be negatively impacted by his government's decisions.

The money has to come from somewhere to pay for the below.
