Splendid detail and out of focus background.

with good composition.

Any more, or was this a one off?

I took over 200 shots that day. I chose this one because the color of this specimen made for good contrast against the bright flower. The others were usually light colored insects against light colored flowers. They are interesting to me but I am not too sure about anyone else.

I picked up an old Bausch and Lomb 158mm Micro Tessar (macro) lens for large format cameras few months ago. I haven't had it shipped yet. It should cover at least 4x5 sheet film, maybe larger. I haven't got the complete specs yet. I may have to have a camera modified or built if it requires very long bellows draw.It would probably take me a while to find a cooperative butterfly who would remain still long enough to get a good shot. If the lens will cover 8x10 I have to be rel careful. 8x10 film, even expired and shot date is expensive! But imagine a large format contact print of an insect and the detail that could been seen.
